With a new project dubbed "Voxel Games," The Sandbox, which is based on the Ethereum blockchain, is encouraging independent developers and studios to make voxel-style games with well-known engines like Unity, Unreal, and HTML5. By reaching gamers on PC, mobile, and the web, this initiative gives developers the opportunity to create games that go beyond The Sandbox.

With this program, creators can build games that fit The Sandbox's voxel style while still having the freedom to release them on other platforms. Before Voxel Games, The Sandbox provided tools like VoxEdit and Game Maker. For novices, these straightforward, no-code tools were ideal, but experienced developers found them inadequate.The Voxel Games initiative has made it possible for both established companies and independent developers to utilize powerful game engines to create more complex projects. This is a step toward realizing the metaverse's objective of allowing users to use their digital assets outside of The Sandbox on various platforms, according to COO of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget.

An Open Metaverse by The Sandbox

The Voxel Games program's link to The Sandbox's Open Metaverse idea is one of its main features. As a result, individuals are able to possess and utilize their digital assets—such as LANDs, NFTs, and avatars—on many platforms. The games can be played by people who are not familiar with blockchain technology, even though creators can use web3 aspects like NFTs and the SAND currency.
