Zillion Whales, the developer behind Wild Forest, has released an updated whitepaper that dives into new features for their free-to-play, Ronin-powered card RTS. This update gives players and the community a better understanding of what's to come, along with a roadmap that teases exciting developments in the game.

New Features in Wild Forest

The updated whitepaper highlights a variety of changes and new features designed to enhance the gameplay experience. Key additions include the introduction of a seasonal Leaderboard system, updates to the Battle Pass, and the launch of Castle Leasing. Players can also look forward to the new Lord Staking bonuses, an overhaul of the Perks system, and a boost in the utility of the $WF token. Furthermore, the game introduces a new rarity and level system for Units, a revised Mint system, and the addition of a new game mode called Expeditions. However, the complete tokenomics of the $WF token is not yet available. It’s expected to be revealed soon, along with details on the Token Share program and staking options.

Expeditions is an upcoming game mode planned for release in Q4 2024. In this idle mode, players can send Units on risky missions to earn valuable resources, which are needed to craft new items. These items will contribute to the core gameplay by creating fresh game loops. Expeditions will link to the main PvP mode, offering a deeper blockchain gaming experience. The missions come with risks. If Units don’t return from the expedition, they’re lost forever. Higher-ranked Units have better chances of making it back safely. The rewards from Expeditions depend on the success of the mission and the rank of the Units sent. Early on, the missions will be straightforward, focusing on simple risk/reward management. However, developers plan to introduce a “meta layer” in future updates. This will add more progression and variety to the missions, with different locations and increasingly difficult tasks.

The game is introducing a revamped Unit Mint system. This feature allows players to turn their in-game Units into tradable NFTs by paying a minting fee with $WF tokens. To avoid supply inflation, a daily soft cap will be implemented. The minting fee will increase as more Units are minted in a day, but this will reset every 24 hours. To make the system more accessible, the developers will introduce Free Mint Tokens, which players can earn through various activities in the game. These Free Mint Tokens will allow players to mint assets without paying the fee. With the updated mint system, the utility of $WF tokens expands. Players can now use $WF tokens to rank up Units, buy premium in-game items like the Premium Battle Pass, and participate in the upcoming Token Share program.

The Token Share Program

The Token Share program is a referral system that rewards players for bringing in new users. It works by using a percentage of the tokens spent within the game to reward both the referrer and the referred player. The majority of the tokens are distributed to the referrer, with the remaining tokens placed in the Token Share Pool. Players can earn a share of this pool by staking their $WF tokens. This system adds a layer of community engagement and incentivizes players to invite others to join the game.

The Wild Forest roadmap has been updated to include several milestones for Q4 2024. Players can expect a reworked leaderboard, an updated Lord Staking system, adjustments to the Fair Play rules, and expansions to the Unit ranks and levels. Other updates include the introduction of a Unit mint fee, Perk re-rolls, the Token Share Program, Castle leasing, Expeditions, and the ability to withdraw $WF tokens. While a similar roadmap was released last month with specific timeframes, there may have been slight adjustments since then.
