Yuga Labs, the company behind developing the Otherside Metaverse game, has recently acquired Mike Seavers as its new Chief Technology Officer.
Seavers previously worked as a developer for both Riot Games and Epic Games, two of the most popular gaming studios that have produced massively multiplayer games such as League of Legends, Valorant, and Fortnite.
Yuga Labs has been acquiring numerous gaming veterans on web2, including COO Daniel Alegre as new CEO, who previously worked at Activision's Blizzard. With the addition of Seavers to the team, the company is seeking to bring his expertise over to Web3, where the future of gaming is happening.
Seavers served for over seven years on developing games, and his acquisition further cements Yuga Labs' vision as a leader in NFT gaming. Their developing game, Otherside Metaverse, is one of its most ambitious NFT gaming projects, aiming to blend massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and blockchain gaming worlds.
Otherside has received positive reviews for its two experiences so far, with the Second Trip having recently concluded with over 7,200 participants. The trip was not only a massive gathering for online players but also showcased how the format enabled fun team-based multiplayer games alongside community leaders such as NFT game YouTuber Brycent.
As Chief Technology Officer, Seavers will be responsible for overseeing the development of Otherside Metaverse and other upcoming NFT games. His experience in developing popular multiplayer games and expertise in software engineering will be invaluable to Yuga Labs as they continue to push the boundaries of NFT gaming.
Final Thoughts
Yuga Labs' acquisition of Mike Seavers as its new CTO is a significant step towards the company's goal of becoming a leader in the NFT gaming industry.
Seavers is without a doubt going to contribute his extensive experience in game development and expertise in software engineering. As Otherside comes closer to its full release, we may expect an elevated experience for the next trip.
