Gods Unchained Is Moving to Immutable zkEVM

Gods Unchained is getting ready to move from Immutable X to Immutable zkEVM. This new chain is built with Polygon’s tech. There is no set date yet, but the team has said players will get plenty of notice. A full rollout plan will be shared before anything starts. The move is part of a larger update to how the game runs in the long term.

Immutable zkEVM supports standard Ethereum smart contracts. Immutable X does not fully support these. By switching, the team can add more features to the game. These include improved crafting, more in-game economic tools, and easier logins with Immutable’s Passport system. This move is all about giving players better tools and smoother gameplay in the future.

Players will get access to simpler ways to join the economy. Services like Squid, Layerswap, and Transak will help move assets more easily. These tools make it easier to buy, sell, and trade in the game. It also becomes simpler to connect real-world crypto with the game’s economy.

Most in-game items, like cards and trinkets, will move over on their own. Players don’t need to take any action for these. Items will stay in your wallet and will keep working as usual. This means no changes to the way your cards look or function.

Tokens like $IMX, $GODS, $ETH, and $USDC will not move automatically. Players must move these using third-party tools. Layerswap is already supporting $GODS. This step is manual but will be needed if players want to use these tokens on the new chain.

Wallets Stay the Same – For Now

There is no need to switch to Immutable’s Passport wallet yet. Players using regular wallets like MetaMask can keep using them. Passport may become more useful later, but it is not required at this time.

There will be some small gas fees on zkEVM if you're using wallets like MetaMask. These fees are paid in $IMX. However, Passport accounts will be able to make gas-free transactions when that feature becomes active. The trading fee stays the same at 9%. Nothing will change in terms of how items are identified. That includes token IDs, rarity, and card tags. Cards used just for casual play, which are not NFTs, will also stay the same.

The migration will not fix current gameplay issues like deck peeking. Those problems are still being worked on. But moving to zkEVM allows for future upgrades. This includes possible updates to the Forge system. Right now, that system takes too many steps. The new chain could help simplify it.

A new in-game store called Eucos Emporium is on the way. It will sell cosmetic items and may grow to include more types of purchases later. This store will become part of the bigger game economy.

Making the switch to zkEVM might facilitate communication with different games on the precise same chain. The Guild of Guardians is one such. Gods Unchained and that game share tale themes and are both produced by Immutable.

As of yet, there is no Gods Unchained mobile app. Still, the team knows many players want one. They are looking into it, but no promises have been made.

Support will be available during and after the move. Players can get help through Discord and customer service. Wallets and accounts will not need to be relinked. This helps keep the transition smooth.
