On October 10, Gods Unchained will launch Tower of Dread, its most recent addition. With this latest innovation, the Ethereum-based NFT trading card game—which is based on the Immutable X network—keeps evolving. With this announcement, Immutable Games has opened the door to even more thrilling gameplay.

Gods Unchained’s New Expansion: Tower of Dread

The Tower of Dread expansion introduces 40 new cards to the game. Among these are seven legendary cards, each with unique one-of-a-kind Mythic variants. This expansion keeps the narrative moving forward, with players taking on the character Thaeriel. According to Immutable Games, this battle will be the biggest one yet in the game’s story.

Gameplay Mechanic: Destroy Cards for Discounts

One of the main features of Tower of Dread is a new gameplay mechanic that lets players destroy their cards. This destruction isn’t for nothing—it earns points that can be used for discounts on expansion packs. It’s a simple yet strategic feature, giving players another way to interact with their cards. Besides this new mechanic, players will also get two new game boards and gothic horror-themed trinkets to enhance their experience.

According to Bryn Welch, a game designer at Gods Unchained, the Tower of Dread expansion is another step toward refining the game. Welch emphasized that the small team at Immutable is focused on making Gods Unchained reach its full potential. The expansion builds on previous ones and improves gameplay and the overall player experience.

Tower of Dread isn’t just about new cards or gameplay—it’s part of a broader strategy. The expansion continues the collaboration between Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, another game under the Immutable umbrella. The company sees this as part of the bigger plan for interoperability within its gaming ecosystem. According to Welch, this crossover is a step toward connecting more games and future intellectual property collaborations.

Playing Gods Unchained is still free on a number of platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. NFT cards are optional, so players can still have fun without having to buy them if they wish to improve their experience. A wide range of players can access the game because they can select between free gaming and paid upgrades.
