Benji Bananas is a mobile game that was launched in 2013 and quickly gained popularity among players of all ages. The game is simple and addictive, featuring a monkey character that swings through trees on vines and collects bananas. As players progress through the game, the levels become progressively more difficult, encouraging users to keep playing in order to improve their skills and beat their high scores.
In March 2022, Animoca Brands, the company behind Benji Bananas, announced the introduction of a play-to-earn mechanic using the Ethereum blockchain and Polygon Layer-2 sidechain. This new feature allows players to earn real money through the game, in addition to simply playing for fun. The currency that players can earn is the PRIMATE token, an ERC-20 token that is swappable for other fungible tokens within the Animoca Brands ecosystem.
Benji Bananas Play-to-Earn Mechanics
To participate in the play-to-earn aspect of the game, players must go through a KYC process and connect their Web3 wallet from the front page of the website. This process involves verifying their membership pass, which is the Benji Pass NFT that enables players to earn PRIMATE tokens through gameplay.
Players must also link their Apple ID or Google Play account to their Web3 wallet. After completing these steps, players must also go through the Blockpass KYC verification process. Once these steps are complete, players are ready to start earning real money through Benji Bananas.
Actual earnings through gameplay are based on five factors: distance traveled, total distance, total bananas collected, number of games played, and highest level reached. Players can earn additional PRIMATE tokens through seasonal reward campaigns and airdrops, which are available to Benji Pass holders.
Despite the introduction of the play-to-earn mechanic, Benji Bananas remains a free game that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Players who are not interested in participating in the play-to-earn aspect of the game can still enjoy the game for fun without any additional steps.
However, for those players who are interested in earning real money through the game, the process of connecting their Web3 wallet and going through the KYC process is straightforward and allows them to start earning PRIMATE tokens right away.
In addition to collecting bananas and earning points, players can also unlock upgrades and character abilities in Benji Bananas. These upgrades include cosmetic items such as new skins, as well as physical abilities like jetpacks, speed boosts, and eagle rides. These upgrades can help players progress through the game and achieve higher scores.
Overall, Benji Bananas is a simple, fun, and addictive mobile game that now offers players the opportunity to earn real money through the play-to-earn mechanic. Built on the Ethereum blockchain and the Polygon Layer-2 sidechain, the game is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels, and is easy to pick up and play. Whether players are looking for a casual gaming experience or the opportunity to earn real money, Benji Bananas has something to offer.
