Dapper Labs Expands Crypto Gaming on Telegram
Dapper Labs, the team behind CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot, is taking a bigger step into Telegram-based crypto gaming. They are launching a new multi-token system to support their idle game, CryptoKitties: All The Zen. On Wednesday, Dapper Labs released six Meowcoins on the Flow blockchain. A seventh token will launch next week. These tokens are designed to boost gameplay, player engagement, and long-term retention instead of just creating buzz.
Unlike many past projects that focused on price spikes, Dapper Labs is choosing a different direction. Arthur Camara, VP of product at Dapper Labs, explained that they had seen too many pump-and-dump token launches that ended quickly. They wanted to build something sustainable and fun for players to enjoy over time.
The Meowcoin system introduces three main types of tokens: Fancy Coins, Beancoins, and Family Coins. Each token plays an important role in the game's economy. The most popular coins are Fancy Coins, which may be obtained by playing frequently, checking in every day, and finishing in-game objectives. These are easy to collect and keep players coming back daily.

Beancoins are harder to earn. Players will need more time and effort to get them. In return, Beancoins can be staked to generate extra rewards inside the game. This gives players a reason to stay involved for longer periods.
Family Coins add another layer. Players create Family Coins by burning a full set of Fancy Coins collected from five different fictional families. This system encourages deeper participation and collecting, rather than just casual play.
Each in-game event will bring new versions of these coins. Events are designed to flow into one another, so players do not end up stuck with obsolete tokens after a season finishes. This solves a major problem seen in many Telegram-based games.
Tokens Meant for Crafting and Playing
Dapper Labs is not building a system where players just sit on tokens. They want players to use Meowcoins for different in-game activities. Players can wager, burn, and stake their tokens through features like the Rumor Mill. The Rumor Mill acts like a fun prediction market where players bet on fictional stories inside the game.
The design borrows ideas from DeFi but keeps everything simple and playful. Players who joined the first two seasons of All The Zen will start receiving airdrops of Fancy Coins and Beancoins from this week. Each phase of the new events will run for a few weeks, giving players steady content to engage with.
Players can also stake Family Coins against Beancoins. This setup creates a cycle where tokens keep moving inside the game economy, helping to prevent large sell-offs that harm the game's balance.
The decision to launch multiple tokens is based on lessons learned from other projects. Games like Hamster Kombat and Catizen exploded in popularity but quickly lost value. Their token prices fell by more than 90% after their peak. Notcoin (NOT), one of the most anticipated taptoearn projects, has also fallen by more than 90% from its highest point.
Arthur Camara believes these failures were not only about poor tokenomics. The lack of enjoyment and complexity in the gameplay was the true issue. Dapper Labs is trying to fix that by building something players actually want to stick with.

Meowcoins are focused on earned progression. Players should not expect quick trading opportunities or instant listings on big crypto exchanges. Instead, the idea is to earn, use, and enjoy tokens in a real gameplay environment.
The first airdrop of Meowcoins started on April 24. Players can access the game through All The Zen on Telegram. There is also browser and bot support available for features like staking and making predictions in the Rumor Mill.
As the crypto gaming world moves away from simple taptoearn models, Meowcoins could set a new standard. Instead of pumping and dumping, players will have a full cycle of earning, crafting, and using their tokens. This approach could lead to a longer, healthier life for both the game and the community around it.
