The popular video game developer Ubisoft just introduced a new project in the crypto gaming market. The firm announced on Tuesday plans to create a video game titled Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., which would be made available on the Ethereum layer-2 Arbitrum network. This is a significant shift for Ubisoft as it considers new blockchain-powered fan interaction strategies.

Connection to Netflix's Captain Laserhawk

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, an animated series on Netflix that draws inspiration from the 2013 game Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, is set in the same universe as Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. Characters from several Ubisoft titles, including Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman, and Assassin's Creed, will come together in the new game. While specifics are still unknown, it is anticipated that the game would creatively and innovatively blend these well-known characters.Source: X

About Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.

The game is referred to as a "transmedia experience," emphasizing community participation and online interactions. The announcement indicates that it won’t follow a conventional, immersive format but will feature experimental aspects instead.

According to Ubisoft, players will be able to influence the game's story and development through what is termed "innovative Web3 governance." This approach allows players to overcome challenges and impact the plot by creating and sharing content. Ubisoft emphasizes that this level of player influence is unprecedented, aiming to provide a platform where the community helps shape the game’s evolution.

Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is being developed in collaboration with the Arbitrum Foundation and Sequence, Horizon’s crypto game development suite. Nicolas Pouard, VP at Ubisoft Labs, highlighted that the use of Arbitrum’s features will enable creators to offer players new ways to shape the game. This collaboration is designed to promote transparency and shared creation, leading to a more interactive gaming experience.Source: X

Ubisoft is at the forefront of combining crypto with games. The company has contributed to some well-known projects, such as Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's in-game NFT release in 2021. Ubisoft is also working on a new game called Champions Tactics, which will be available on the Oasys gaming network. These programs show how committed Ubisoft is to learning about cutting-edge technologies and expanding its market share in the cryptocurrency space.
