The Bornless Is Coming to Xbox
Cathedral Studios has announced that its horror first-person shooter, The Bornless, will be launching on Xbox. The UK-based studio confirmed that the game has been accepted into Xbox’s independent developer program, making it one of the few web3 titles to secure a spot on the platform.
This news comes after AMGI’s My Pet Hooligan was also added to Xbox, showing a growing presence of blockchain-powered games in console gaming. Web3 titles are gradually moving beyond PC and mobile, expanding into mainstream gaming ecosystems. The Bornless will join games like Off The Grid and Moonray in bringing blockchain-integrated experiences to console players.

A Horror-Filled Battle for Survival
Set in the 1950s, The Bornless delivers an intense survival horror battle royale experience. Players enter the game alongside the first Demon, Orobas, and must fight to stay alive. Each match consists of eight players, divided into teams of two, who must battle each other while also facing supernatural threats.
The game combines PvP combat with horror elements, keeping players on edge throughout each match. The Bornless offers a darker atmosphere with unsettling settings, surprising encounters, and scarce resources, in contrast to conventional battle royale games. Along with outlasting their rivals, players also have to stay clear of dreadful things that lurk in the shadows.
The ability to make strategic decisions is essential. Players can swing the tide in their favor by creating traps, calling forth demons, and using strong spells. Players are forced to look for resources while remaining vigilant for threats at every move, which promotes exploration in the game.
The gameplay and mechanics of The Bornless have been improved over the course of several years of development. A Storm is Coming was a recent two-day playtest event organized by the developers. The event broke engagement records with thousands of participants from the web2 and web3 gaming communities.
One of the biggest additions introduced during this playtest was The Storm, a new feature in the game’s Ritual mode. This mechanic changes how the final moments of each match play out, intensifying battles and increasing the challenge for surviving players. Developers also used this event to improve gameplay balance, making fights more dynamic and immersive.
Impressive engagement numbers were obtained from the playtest. 1,063 matches were played by more than 5,500 different players. Over 26,000 hours of games were viewed, demonstrating a high level of streaming engagement. 22,000 loot items were sold throughout the event, indicating that in-game transactions were functioning. These numbers demonstrate the game's rising appeal and high level of anticipation before its formal launch.

The Bornless's Xbox release represents yet another advancement in web3 gaming. Games with blockchain integration are now available on devices other than PCs and smartphones. More developers are concentrating on immersive experiences and high-quality games in an effort to make web3 gaming more widely available.
The dominance of major publishers in console gaming has historically made it difficult for independent developers to make a name for themselves. But now that The Bornless is part of Xbox's independent developer program, people are starting to notice games that use blockchain technology. This change reflects web3 gaming's increasing popularity in the entertainment industry.
The popularity of The Bornless may open the door for further console games that incorporate blockchain technology. It will become increasingly difficult to distinguish between web2 and web3 gaming as developers continue to improve gameplay mechanics and add features that appeal to both conventional and blockchain-savvy users.
The Future of The Bornless
The Xbox release is only the first step in the game's development. The Bornless will eventually have new features, characters, and content thanks to Cathedral Studios' ambitions to grow the game. The development team is gathering playtest feedback in an attempt to enhance the experience before launch.
Players can follow the official channels of The Bornless to be updated on upcoming playtests, launch details, and new content additions. The game's growing popularity suggests that it could be a great hit in the web3 gaming market.
The Bornless, which is about to launch on platforms, is not your typical survival horror game. This demonstrates how games that include blockchain technology may offer captivating experiences on par with traditional games. The game is unique among Xbox titles since it combines horror, strategy, and multiplayer competition.
