As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, ChainPlay has partnered with Storible to conduct an in-depth survey of over 1,400 Americans to reveal that 68% of Americans now own crypto. This finding underscores the rapid rise of digital assets and their growing role in the financial portfolios of U.S. residents. With political shifts and market events influencing investor behavior, our survey highlights key trends in crypto ownership and sentiment for 2025.

Key Findings

  1. 52% of Americans sold stocks or gold to purchase Bitcoin.
  2. The win of Donald Trump drove 38% of Americans to increase their crypto investments.
  3. In 2025, 77% of Americans plan to increase their crypto investments.

Methodology

To gather the data presented below, we surveyed 1,428 Americans.

The survey included two attention-check questions to ensure participants answered thoughtfully. Any invalid responses were excluded from the final results. As the survey is based on self-reported data, factors like telescoping and exaggeration may impact the responses.

Please note that the results of this survey do not represent our views, and all information and interpretations in this report should not be considered investment advice.

General Crypto Ownership Trends

Our survey found that 68% of Americans own cryptocurrency, marking a significant milestone in the adoption of digital currencies.

A major catalyst for this surge was President Trump's election, which encouraged 38% of Americans to increase their investments in crypto. Among those who increased their portfolios following these events, 84% are first-time buyers, showing that political milestones are effectively attracting a new wave of crypto investors.

Additionally, 64% of American crypto owners have recommended purchasing crypto to their family members, indicating a growing trust in the potential of cryptocurrencies and the importance of sharing this new investment opportunity with loved ones.

Demographic Insights on Crypto Investors

The survey also reveals a shift in the demographic profile of crypto investors.

Gen Z leads the charge, starting to buy crypto at an average age of 22. Millennials follow closely behind, entering the market at the average age of 29. Meanwhile, Baby Boomers tend to start investing at the age of 50.

This shift illustrates how younger generations are increasingly comfortable with digital assets, while older generations are adopting crypto at a more gradual pace.

Investment Behavior

A significant portion of American crypto investors are making bold moves in their portfolios. Our survey found that 52% of Americans have sold traditional assets, such as stocks or gold, to buy Bitcoin, showcasing their confidence in Bitcoin's long-term value.

Moreover, 20% of Americans are allocating more than 30% of their total investment funds to crypto, indicating that digital assets are becoming a more substantial part of their financial strategies.

Additionally, 51% of investors allocate more than 30% of their crypto portfolios to memecoins, reflecting the high-risk, high-reward nature of this segment within the market. Despite their volatility, memecoins remain an attractive choice for those seeking speculative gains.

Market Expectations and Sentiment

Looking to the future, our survey reveals a strong sense of optimism in the crypto market. A majority (60%) of investors expect to double their holdings by 2025, signaling high confidence in the continued growth of digital currencies.

In addition, 77% of Americans plan to buy more crypto in 2025, further reinforcing the trend of increasing adoption and investment.

Conclusion

The results of our survey show that cryptocurrency is becoming a mainstream asset for many Americans. The younger generation is leading the way, but older generations are also taking steps to include crypto in their investment strategies. With an optimistic outlook for the market in 2025, crypto ownership in the U.S. is set to continue growing, and AirdropBee will be here to provide insights and airdrop opportunities for those looking to expand their portfolios.
