Square Enix, the Japanese gaming giant behind iconic game franchises like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, has announced a partnership with Polygon for the launch of an NFT collectible NFT game project called SYMBIOGENESIS. This is a significant milestone for the Japan-based gaming giant as it marks the company's first digital collectible art project designed specifically for web3 fans.

The collection consists of 10,000 unique pieces of artwork with each piece said to hold gaming utility, offering players a unique virtual storyline experience. Players will be able to work towards different endings, unlocking more stories and secrets about the unfolding metaverse storyline.

Based on press releases so far, players will have the autonomy to dictate where the story will be headed, likely resembling decision-based storyline games such as Life is Strange and Walking Dead but with a unique web3 flair.

The project is slated to launch this spring of 2023. It even has its own dedicated Twitter account, where the project will receive regular updates until its final release.

This marks Square Enix's steady approach towards web3. The company has made progressive steps toward web3. In previous months, the company confirmed its push into blockchain gaming alongside other gaming giants such as Ubisoft.

Square Enix has a long history of creating immersive worlds and memorable characters in their games. Along with Polygon’s high-speed and low-cost blockchain infrastructure, the NFT game project will include the company’s iconic flair in creating creative and unforgettable game characters.

Final Thoughts

As the world of web3 gaming continues to grow, partnerships between large companies such as Square Enix and Polygon are going to expand and boost blockchain gaming even further. The combination of traditional gaming companies with web3 companies only spells good things for the industry moving forward

Fans of Square Enix's games can look forward to the launch of SYMBIOGENESIS this spring. Whether you’re into web2 or web3, or an enjoyer of both, it would be best to stick around and see what the project will bring forth.
