Square Enix Joins Blockchain Game Alliance to Support Blockchain Technology in Gaming
We are thrilled to announce that Square Enix, the renowned publisher and developer of Final Fantasy, has officially joined the Blockchain Game Alliance. This exciting collaboration adds Square Enix to the esteemed roster of industry leaders such as Ubisoft, AMD, Kongregate, Animoca Brands, and ConsenSys, among others, who are dedicated to promoting the use of blockchain technology in gaming.
The President of the Blockchain Game Alliance, Sebastien Borget, expressed his enthusiasm about Square Enix's participation: "Square Enix is an early adopter in the Blockchain Gaming industry, having invested in The Sandbox in 2019 and developed and published web3 games. We are delighted that this global gaming giant has joined the Blockchain Game Alliance, contributing to the expansion of global adoption of blockchain technology."
As a non-profit organization, the Blockchain Game Alliance aims to advance the utilization of blockchain technology within the gaming industry. Led by Sebastien Borget, who is also the Co-Founder and COO of The Sandbox metaverse, the Alliance's board members include industry experts like Gabby Dizon from YGG, Aleksander Larsen from Sky Mavis, and Nicolas Gilot, the CEO & Founder of Ultra.
Hideaki Uehara, Square Enix's Director of Business Development, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting blockchain gaming: "BGA has played a vital role in promoting blockchain gaming and empowering its members. As a sponsor and member, Square Enix will actively contribute to BGA's initiatives and promote the growth of blockchain gaming."
Square Enix has been actively exploring the potential of blockchain gaming, making their membership in the Blockchain Game Alliance an inevitable progression. Their recent partnerships, including the collaboration with the web3 gaming platform Elixir and the release of Final Fantasy VII NFTs on the game's 25th anniversary, demonstrate their dedication to embracing this emerging field. Furthermore, Square Enix is currently developing their first web3 game, Symbiogenesis.
By joining forces with the Blockchain Game Alliance, Square Enix solidifies its position as a key player in the blockchain gaming industry. Together, we will continue to drive innovation, foster adoption, and unlock the immense potential that blockchain technology holds for the future of gaming.
