Sanko Secures Grant from Arbitrum Foundation

Sanko has officially announced a grant from the Arbitrum Foundation. This grant will allow the team to deliver tools for creating AI-powered gaming experiences in the web3 ecosystem. The announcement highlights plans to integrate AI technologies into Sanko's platform over the next year.

The Sanko Imagination Toolkit will be a core feature of these AI-powered gaming tools. This UGC platform will let users create in-game assets such as items, weapons, and cosmetics. All assets will be customizable and rigged for seamless integration into game environments.

Players will have access to tools for generating modular clothing, weapons, and custom rooms. Furniture and decorative items will also be available to match the themes players create. Additionally, users can set up puzzles and traps using finite state machines.

The toolkit will utilize state-of-the-art AI models. These include generative sound, photo-realistic Gaussian Splat environments, and 3D art style LoRAs. Recursive modular generation will provide detailed control over asset customization.

Sanko also plans to introduce an object marketplace. This will allow creators and players to share, collect, and exchange their custom-made items. The marketplace aims to foster a thriving economy within the gaming ecosystem.

AI will enable reactive environmental gameplay on the platform. PvE gameplay will adapt to players’ actions, offering different enemy placements, narrative paths, and resource availability based on past decisions.

Emergent Gameplay in Sanko Games

Sanko plans to set a new standard for emergent gameplay by combining cutting-edge AI techniques. Players will inject their creativity into characters and game worlds, expressing their individuality. This will contribute to a sophisticated and evolving metaverse economy.

The grant will also support the development of agentic AI companions. These companions will evolve their own personalities over time and enhance gameplay experiences. Custom LLMs will power these companions, enabling them to perform in-game actions, use emotes, and interact with players and other NPCs.

Each companion will have mood parameters, requiring players to feed and play with them to maintain their mood. Players can read “thought tokens” to understand their companion’s decisions and adjust their behavior.

Companions will operate independently through a persistent agent framework. This allows them to react to market events and interact with their environment and other NPCs, even when players are offline. The scene graph will make NPC interactions more lifelike, considering environmental awareness, situations, and time of day.

The Arbitrum Foundation grant aligns with the growing interest in web3 gaming. Last month, Tarta Games received a similar grant for Spot Zero development. These developments reflect a broader effort to push boundaries in the web3 gaming space.
