Iconic Gaming Hardware Brand, Razer, has launched a new Web3 incubator to support and fund NFT(non-fungible token) games.

This is a new venture firm, zVentures Web3 Incubator (ZW3I), that will focus on boosting NFT games into the laps of mainstream gamers, hopefully bringing web3 to the masses. The aim of the incubator is to provide funding and marketing support to select 36 projects and developers who show potential.

Razer is a well-known brand in the gaming industry, having made a name for itself as a leading manufacturer of gaming hardware such as mice, keyboards, and laptops. Alongside huge gaming hardware names such as Steelseries and Logitech, Razer is practically synonymous with serious and casual gaming.

What the Fund means

While the exact financial details of the fund have yet to be disclosed, ZVentures has already ventured into NFT gaming with its investment in Animoca Brands and numerous NFT game startups.

In a recent interview, the motivation behind Razer's fund was revealed to be similar to the dominant narrative several developers currently champion in the space, which is to remove the focus on earning and finance and focus more on how to make the game more fun

This is an important shift in focus for the industry as a whole, as it moves away from the perceived emphasis on profits and more towards creating quality and enjoyable gaming experiences.

One of the key challenges facing NFT games is the perceived complexity of the blockchain technology that underpins them. This has been a barrier to mainstream adoption, as many gamers are intimidated by the technology and need guidance on how to get started.

However, with the support of the ZW3I incubator, developers will be able to create games that are more accessible and user-friendly, and that can help to bridge the gap between traditional gaming and the world of blockchain.

Final Thoughts

Razer's launch of the ZVentures Web3 Incubator is a positive development for the NFT gaming industry.  As the gaming industry continues to evolve and embrace new technologies, it is exciting to see what other role will companies like Razer play a part in boosting NFT games into the mainstream.
