Key Takeaways

  • Off The Grid (OTG) released its Halloween Feardrop update, featuring the Trick, Treat or Die event from October 17 to November 3.
  • Players can find new cosmetics, collectibles, and map changes, along with special achievements like the Tooch Decayer and the Hell Sack Mask.
  • The update follows the major Kill The Feed patch and brings system fixes, community challenges, and new achievements to celebrate OTG’s one-year Early Access anniversary.

Trick, Treat or Die Event Goes Live

The Trick, Treat or Die event is the highlight of the Halloween Feardrop update. Over 100 limited-time items are available through exploration and match rewards. Players can hunt for 10 hidden Candy Bags scattered across Teardrop Island. Finding all of them unlocks the Tooch Decayer achievement under the Career Page.

The reward for completing this challenge is the Hell Sack Mask. The first player to collect all Candy Bags will receive Serial Number #1 of the mask, making it a unique collector’s piece. All rewards are earned through gameplay, without external raffles or contests.

Halloween Hexes Bring New Cosmetics

The update also introduces special Halloween Hexes, which drop during matches or can be purchased on testnet using GUN. Each player can buy up to two per day, though there’s no daily limit for those found in-game.

Items in the Halloween Hexes include the limited Psycho Mask, new character sets, emotes, banners, avatars, and themed weapon skins. All items are available only during the event. The in-game store separates Halloween Hexes from standard drops, and only testnet purchases are active for now.

The Candy Bags are the main collectible challenge in this update. Hidden throughout the map, these 10 collectibles encourage players to explore Teardrop Island in detail.

Collecting all the Candy Bags unlocks both the Tooch Decayer achievement and the Hell Sack Mask. These achievements now appear under a new Career tab in the player menu. This event offers one of the few gear items that can be earned purely through milestone progress, without premium bundles or subscriptions.

Feardrop Map Brings Spooky Vibes

Teardrop Island transforms into Feardrop for the Halloween event. The map features a darker atmosphere, glowing fog, eerie lighting, and spooky sounds. At certain times, a burning fog sweeps across the island, changing the mood entirely. Floating pumpkin blimps drift in the sky, adding a festive yet unsettling touch to the island.

OTG also introduces community-wide challenges for Halloween. The first challenge rewards players who spend at least five active hours in voice chat with the Sackrifice Mask. Only the first 200 players to complete this challenge will receive the item.

Inactive or AFK players will not qualify, as only active time counts. More challenges will roll out through October, encouraging social play and teamwork during the event period.

The Halloween Feardrop update brings 10 new achievements. These can be accessed under the Career tab and focus on collectibles, community challenges, and special Halloween goals. Most achievements are earned through regular gameplay.

Weekly challenges also received an update. Players can now take on five active weekly tasks instead of three. XP rewards per task have been slightly reduced to maintain balance. The new five-task system begins automatically once the current weekly cycle resets.

Alongside new content, the update includes many gameplay improvements. Players will notice smoother zipline transitions, cleaner dodge animations, and improved cyberlimb performance during combat.

Key fixes include correct cyberlimb stats, proper dodge function during limb use, and resolved melee trigger issues after the Slamfist dash. Marketplace fees are now capped at 500 GUN. Several maps—Little Kyiv, Marshlands, Midtown Harbour, Saltie, and Ocio—received fixes for invisible walls and collision bugs.

Just one week earlier, OTG released Kill The Feed, its biggest update yet. It added new movement systems, cyberlimbs, a narrative campaign, and an improved battle pass. The patch introduced the dodge ability, PainKilla support limb, better jetpack handling, reduced fall damage, and clearer weapon roles.

These updates refined gameplay flow, making character actions smoother and combat more tactical.

About Off The Grid

Off The Grid is a cyberpunk-style battle royale directed by Neill Blomkamp. The game takes place on Teardrop Island, where players fight in a televised survival match. The experience focuses on fast jetpack mobility, modular gear, and deep customization.

Players can trade items through GUNZ’s marketplace or on OpenSea. A full story campaign is planned for later this year, while PvP gameplay is already active across PS5, Xbox, PC, and supported cloud platforms.

The Halloween Feardrop event runs until November 3, inviting players to dive back into Teardrop Island for spooky rewards and thrilling challenges.
