Axie Infinity’s Classic Mode Updates

Axie Infinity’s Classic mode has just received major updates ahead of Season 8. The new changes enhance gameplay, improve user interface, and refine in-game mechanics. These updates include the expansion of Tower Mode, the introduction of Gear utility, and an upgraded quest system. The goal is to create a smoother onboarding process for new players while adding depth for experienced ones.

A key feature of this update is the new quest system. There are two main modes—Starter Mode and Guardian Mode—each designed for different player levels. Starter Mode is meant for newcomers. These quests allow players to earn rewards like Gold, Gems, and other items by completing basic tasks. No axie ownership is required to get started. Players can log in, engage in PvP battles, and clear easier Tower Mode floors. This system helps beginners get familiar with game mechanics while earning useful rewards.

On the other hand, Guardian Mode is for experienced players who own or have delegated three axies. The quests here offer higher difficulty levels, with more complex challenges. Players can earn rewards such as Gold, Dust, and Premium Pass items by purchasing the Battle Pass. Guardian Mode tasks include winning PvP matches and maintaining win streaks in the Cursed Coliseum. These challenges are designed to test players' skills and strategic thinking.

Tower Mode, a PvE feature, has also been expanded. Previously limited to just five floors, Tower Mode now includes ten levels, though they’ll be introduced gradually. The first five floors will be more accessible and free from environmental debuffs. In the second week, five more floors will be added. These new floors include environmental challenges, raising the difficulty level. Players will need to use more advanced tactics to progress through these floors. This expansion adds more structured PvE content, offering additional rewards and variety for players.

Another exciting update is the introduction of Gear utility. Gear allows players to customize their axies and team setups. It works similarly to Runes and Charms in Axie Origins but with distinct mechanics. Players can now equip, upgrade, and craft Gear for their axies. However, Gear cannot be used in Cursed Coliseum battles to ensure fair play.

If there is a Gear conflict during a match, the team setup will automatically revert to the previous valid configuration. This ensures a seamless experience without any gameplay disruptions. To kickstart this update, all Axie Classic accounts linked to Ronin addresses will receive a free Level 3 HP Gear. Players can check their inventory to claim this bonus item.

Adjustments to Attack+ Buff Mechanic

The Attack+ Buff mechanic has been adjusted for better balance and clearer effects. This bonus used to persist for a predetermined number of rounds. The buff now lasts for a predetermined number of turns, beginning with the subsequent card that is played. There has also been an update to the Cockadoodledoo ability. It now removes the Morale stat increase and gives the entire squad the Attack+ effect. For one turn, the Attack+ boost will be applied to each axie. By utilizing another Cockadoodledoo card, players can additionally upgrade the effect to Attack++, which gives them a 40% attack increase. Although axies can stack up to five Cockadoodledoo buffs, using a card by one axie no longer deprives the entire team of the boost.

A number of improvements to the gameplay and user interface are also included in the update. The Confirm Challenge user interface now features the artifact icon again. A new feature now allows players to delete a guild under specific conditions, such as when the guild has no axies, GP, or AXS in the Vault and only one remaining member. Numerous bug fixes have been made to address issues with pagination, tooltip displays, and incorrect UI elements.

In addition, queue times have been reduced, improving matchmaking efficiency. The artifact unequip function has been optimized, and a new card name search feature has been added to the card collection system. The friend request system has also been improved, allowing players to accept or reject all requests at once. Other improvements include enhanced accessory updates for axies, better floor information displays in Tower Mode, and changes to Starter Mode that streamline team selection when no free teams are available.
