Just weeks before its much-anticipated token launch, developers of MemeFi, the popular Telegram tap-to-earn combat game, revealed a major network switch. Previously planned to launch on Ethereum's layer-2 Linea, MemeFi’s team announced on Friday that they will instead debut the MEMEFI token on the Sui network, a layer-1 blockchain. The move to Sui marks a pivotal shift in MemeFi’s development and offers new opportunities for the game and its players.

MemeFi Announces Network Shift to Sui Ahead of Token Launch

The transition to Sui brings with it a strategic partnership with Mysten Labs, the creators of Sui. The MemeFi team highlighted their collaboration with Mysten Labs as a way to strengthen the game’s launch through marketing efforts and exposure to the larger Sui ecosystem. This partnership aims to help Sui integrate with Telegram and attract more crypto and NFT enthusiasts to explore its features. While many Telegram-based crypto games, such as Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and Catizen, launched their tokens on The Open Network (TON), MemeFi has taken a unique route. TON, originally developed by Telegram’s team, has become a popular choice for many projects. However, MemeFi's decision to switch to Sui sets it apart in this crowded space. With the backing of Mysten Labs and access to Sui’s unique offerings, MemeFi has chosen a distinctive path that could yield significant advantages.

Following the shift to Sui, the official launch date for MEMEFI is now set for November 12. MemeFi initially planned to launch on October 9, but the date passed without the token release due to behind-the-scenes developments. The rescheduled launch gives the team additional time to refine their transition to Sui. To ensure fair distribution of tokens, MemeFi developers will take a final snapshot of player activity on November 6, allowing them to allocate tokens based on engagement levels. Players can view preliminary estimates of their allocations now via OKX Wallet, with the final figures set to be announced on November 8.

Airdrop Campaign and Pre-market Trading

Alongside the network migration, MemeFi is preparing an airdrop campaign for its loyal player base. This campaign, which includes in-app rewards, will help introduce players to Sui’s capabilities and familiarize them with its features. OKX has also joined forces with MemeFi to start pre-market trading for the MEMEFI token on its futures platform.
