If you were a kid that grew up during the 2000s, you probably had a shared childhood with most adults that grew up within the same era.  Britney Spears, Friendster, Emo music - these trends were one of the most popular during that era.

Now, LimeWire, the nostalgic download platform, has made a comeback in the form of a browser-based NFT game. The game, aptly called LimeWire Game, is accessible through a web browser and is available until May 15th. Let’s take a nostalgic trip on reliving the early 2000s.

LimeWire Game

The game sports a nostalgic 2000s Windows operating system setup - complete with the quintessential wallpaper and format.

Players engage in a search for old singers, songs, or even movies that were prevalent at the time. Players who download files that do not contain a virus will be rewarded with points until the time runs out.

But that's not all. LimeWire has also announced a total prize pool of 150,000 $LMWR (equivalent to $30,000) and 1,000 merchandise packages for players with the highest scores. Players ranked #2 to #6 will receive 10,000 $LMWR, while those ranked #7 to #1,000 will win a LimeWire Merch Package.

Last year, LimeWire made a huge comeback and entered the web3 space when it launched an NFT marketplace focused on music. They later released their own token, $LMWR, which has earned over $1 million in total volume traded, according to sources.

With the LimeWire Game, the company aims to combine nostalgia with the exciting new world of NFT gaming. Aside from its NFT marketplace, LimeWire recognizes the appeal of gamifying its applications to bring attention and increase engagement from web3 users.

LimeWire is not the only company to enter the NFT gaming space. Other major players have also announced their own rendition of the web3 gaming space, such as Atari and Lamborghini.

Final Thoughts

As for LimeWire, the company has found a way to blend the past with the future. The LimeWire Game offers a unique experience that allows players to relive the nostalgia of the 2000s while also experiencing the excitement of the latest trends in gaming.
