Just when you thought Gala Games had reached its zenith, they surprise us with yet another groundbreaking project. Gala Games, the blockchain ecosystem known for its in-house games and partnerships with other developers, is diversifying its portfolio further. Their latest venture, REP, a social media network, is already making waves with an existing prototype, and it's set to run on GalaChain, their very own blockchain platform.

Expanding Horizons on GalaChain

Gala Games has been vocal about its vision for GalaChain, aiming to transform it into a hub for more than just their gaming and app offerings. With the recent partnership announcement, Gala Games takes a significant step towards realizing this vision. REP, the innovative social media platform, is set to become an integral part of GalaChain, creating a unified ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, REP Nodes are being introduced, run by individuals worldwide to support the REP network. Surprisingly, these nodes are already up for sale, with initial prices starting at 1.225 ETH or its equivalent in GALA tokens. Node owners will be rewarded for maintaining active and robust nodes, aligning with Gala Games' strong emphasis on distributed computing.

What exactly is REP? 

Described as a 'Super Twitter,' REP offers users the ability to share short, Twitter-like messages, as well as longer articles. Its unique selling points include geolocation and augmented reality features that turn social networking into a treasure hunt-style game, fostering user engagement. Even the registration process gets a gamified twist as new users hunt for treasure chests containing codes to unlock the app.

REP doesn't stop at social networking; it also offers personal profile pages with unique URLs and customizable widget options, akin to digital business cards. Users will even have the opportunity to establish personalized marketplaces within their profiles.

One standout aspect of REP is its commitment to user privacy and an ad-free experience. They plan to uphold these promises by introducing their own token on GalaChain, known as REPS. Potential use-cases for REPS include creating private networks, boosting post visibility, acquiring nodes, and adding special widgets to user profiles.

It's important to note that while REP will be hosted on GalaChain, it will be developed and operated by a third-party developer, not Gala Games directly. Nevertheless, the partnership promises to be close-knit. Gala Games and REP plan to integrate through a 'Gala Friends' feature, facilitating easy connections between players.

In addition to in-house titles like Spider Tanks, Mirandus, Superior, and Town Star, Gala Games has ventured into mobile gaming through the acquisition of Ember Entertainment, seamlessly integrating NFTs into their mobile games.
