Calamity Launches New Incentivized Technical Test

On Tuesday, August 19, 12 PM UTC, the developers of Calamity will launch the Incentivized Technical Test. This event gives the web3 gaming community another chance to play, explore, and earn rewards in the retro-inspired MMORPG. The test lasts until August 22, 2 PM UTC.

The test showcases almost all the features planned for Calamity’s upcoming play-to-airdrop campaign. The only missing elements are the guild system and advanced fishing baits. Support for cosmetics, rings, and pass/gold purchases is now available to players. After the test begins, these services will be accessible via the official dApp.

A significant new build is being tested for the first time. Players should anticipate errors, rollbacks, and lengthy maintenance times as a result. The backend, servers, and architecture of the game have undergone significant modifications. These updates include potential problems along with new mechanics. OTC trades, such as purchasing gold outside of the official dApp, are discouraged by developers. Any trades made outside of the proper channels will not be reimbursed if an event is pushed back because of exploits.

There are various incentives available for the Incentivized Technical Test. These consist of Factory NFTs, USDC, and raffle entries for the 500k WYRM tokens.

$1000 is the starting prize pool for the USDC Tribute. Players who buy Gold, Season Passes, and other things increase the pool. Players must accumulate at least 1000 Gold by the end of the event in order to be eligible. 1000 Gold is equal to $1 for this test. A dollar will be worth 100 gold during the play-to-airdrop campaign. Selling goods at the Auction House allows free users to earn Gold. Dungeons are where Season Pass holders can obtain Wyrm Shards. Every day's Gold reward is determined by Shards.

Players in the top 25 on the Valor Leaderboard are eligible to receive Factory NFTs. Run dungeons to earn Valor Points, with more points awarded for harder dungeons. After the play-to-airdrop campaign concludes, players will be able to claim these NFTs at a subsequent Factory Sale.

Each of the 100 winners of the WYRM raffle will get 5000 WYRM tokens. To receive one ticket, players must have 850 Valor Points or more. The likelihood of winning increases as more points translate into more tickets. Thirty percent of the rewards will be claimed at TGE, with the remaining portion vesting over a period of three months.

Referrals and Content Creator Rewards

Referrals made during this test will count toward the main play-to-airdrop campaign. However, no rewards will be given during the test itself. Developers recommend holding off on inviting friends until the test begins, since referrals made before will not carry over.

Content creators also have a way to earn rewards. The top 20 social media posts based on quality and engagement will win 3 Factory NFTs each. The top 5 game guide authors will win 5 Factory NFTs each. The creator campaign runs until August 29, 11 AM UTC, with winners announced on September 5. To join, creators can post content on X or other platforms and share links in the “#creative” channel on Discord.

Players can download Calamity for free from the Epic Games Store, Steam, or directly from Discord. The Discord version is offered as zipped builds for Windows and Mac. Keep in mind that each new update requires re-downloading the client.
