One crucial step before the Play to Airdrop (P2A) campaign launches is the completion of Calamity's last playtest, which is now live. This tournament is a great chance to become familiar with the game, understand its mechanics, and compete for a share of the $4,400 prize fund. It runs from September 3rd to September 13th.

This playtest is essential for the team to finalize the game's polish. The primary focus is on refining Calamity further, ensuring the game can handle the expected load and resolve any remaining bugs. This preparation is crucial with the P2A campaign just around the corner. Players will soon earn points through gameplay that determine their token distributions during the campaign.

There are two contests going on throughout the playtest to keep the community interested. The first is the In-game Activities Contest, ideal for experienced players. Three warriors, archers, and mages who reach the highest levels by the end of the playtest will each win $200 USDT. Additionally, the first warrior, archer, and mage to reach level 25 will receive an extra $200 USDT each. To participate, players must post a screenshot of their character in the city with their level visible on Calamity's Creative Discord channel.

The second contest is for content creators. Participants can create video content using in-game footage, such as game guides, epic moment compilations, or dungeon speedruns. The team will judge the best content, awarding ten winners $200 USDT each. By September 16 at 6:00 PM (HKT), content producers must post their work on Twitter and share the link in the Creative Discord channel in order to be eligible to enter.

How to Join the Playtest

If you haven't joined yet, there's still time. Follow these steps to gain access:

1. Acquire an Artifact: Obtain an NFT Artifact from the Calamity collection on OpenSea.
2. Verification: After obtaining an Artifact, verify your holder status on Calamity's Discord.
3. Get a Code: Open a ticket via the support-and-collab channel in Discord to receive an Epic Store access code.
4. Unlock the Game: Use the code to unlock Calamity on the Epic Store and join the playtest.

Calamity offers an engaging gameplay experience in a vibrant 2D top-down world. Inspired by classic games like World of Warcraft and Diablo, Calamity invites players into a dynamic action RPG. The game's PvE dungeons are a key feature, where players battle through escalating rooms filled with tougher enemies and better rewards. The game supports a player-driven economy with its Auction House, where items can be traded freely. At the Blacksmith, players can improve their equipment by mending, salvaging, or combining related objects. Additionally, players can find, craft, and enhance gems to boost their gear's abilities. Gear skills can be re-rolled to suit different playstyles better.

One of Calamity's standout features is its unique class system, which is directly tied to the weapons you choose. Instead of being locked into a single class, you can switch roles freely by changing weapons. Warrior, Archer, and Mage are the first three classes available in the game. Every class has a unique set of tools and abilities, making it easy for players to transition between them.

There are four rarity tiers for in-game items: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic. Each piece of gear is distinct due to the combination of random traits and predetermined stats.  The gem system adds another layer of customization, enabling players to enhance their gear by embedding gems. Players can also combine similar items for power boosts.

Artifacts are another key element in Calamity. Earned through special in-game challenges or events, these rare and valuable items enhance a character's appearance and provide gameplay advantages, such as bonus XP and higher loot chances. Outside of the game, Artifacts are represented as NFTs.
