June 2025 is every gamer’s dream. It kicks off with the launch of the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2, and ends with the return of Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding 2. In between? We dive into desert chaos with Dune, Awakening, revisit Hyrule in stunning 4K, and speed through an open-world Mushroom Kingdom like never before.

Nintendo Switch 2 Drops June 5

After years of leaks and wild rumours, Nintendo is finally back with a new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, and this time it means business. The anticipated launch is not just a refresh, it's a leap.

Here’s what comes with it:

  • 1080p handheld play

  • Up to 4K resolution when docked

  • DLSS upscaling

  • 8x more storage than the original Switch

  • New Joy-Cons that magnetically snap in place

  • One Joy-Con can even act as a mouse

As you can see, the Switch 2 launch lineup is stacked with over 20 games set to drop on day one.

Mario Kart World Is a Revolution

Launches June 5 | Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

This isn’t another remake of Rainbow Road.  Mario Kart World is the most ambitious Kart game yet. It's an open-world game that connects classic tracks into one seamless world, full of jumps, stunts, and chaos.

Think Forza Horizon, with red shells and Bullet Bills. You’ll drift through deserts, ice mountains, and haunted forests without loading screens. Secrets, shortcuts, and boss races are everywhere. It’s a launch title built to show off the Switch 2's raw power.

After nearly 10 years without a mainline Kart game, Mario Kart World feels like a victory lap.

Zelda Returns: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Remastered

Launches June 5 | Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

Two of the most beloved games ever made are getting a serious upgrade and Zelda is one of it.

What is new and what gamers expect?

  • Sharper textures and improved lighting

  • Smooth 60 FPS gameplay

  • Full HDR support

  • In-game achievements

  • A new “Zelda Notes” app for tracking collectables, shrines, and Koroks

If you already own the games on Switch, the upgrade is just $10 each. That’s a small price to pay to explore Hyrule in the best way possible.

Cyberpunk 2077: Switch 2 Edition

Launches June 5 | Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

Cyberpunk 2077 is running on a Nintendo handheld, and it looks shockingly good. DLSS does the heavy lifting, frame rates are smooth, and the Night City looks sharp. This is not the broken version from 2020, it's sure to be a redemption.

If you missed it the first time or want to explore on the go, the Switch 2 version makes that dream a reality.

Dune: Awakening Is a Survival Epic

Launches June 10 | Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

Arrakis is calling, and you’re not Paul Atreides. You’re just trying to survive.

Dune: Awakening drops you into an alternate universe where Paul was never born. You start as a nobody, a prisoner, and alone in the desert. On this, the sandworms are real, the spice still flows, and you need to adapt fast.

What to expect:

  • Deep survival gameplay

  • Massive open-world desert

  • Crafting and faction choices

  • Learning from Fremen, Mentats, and Bene Gesserit

  • Flying your own Ornithopter

  • Permanent danger around every dune

You’ll need to scavenge, build, and stay out of the sun. Shade is life, and movement means risk since you might just lose your mind along the way.

Stellar Blade Hits PC

Launches June 11 | Platform: PC

One of the most stylish games of 2024 is back. Stellar Blade combines the fluid combat of Bayonetta with the vibe of Nier: Automata. It is now finally coming to PC and these are some of what’s new:

  • Enhanced graphics

  • Higher frame rates

  • Full support for mouse, keyboard, and controllers

If you missed it on console, don’t skip it this time. If you loved it already, this is your excuse to dive in again.

Death Stranding 2: The Weird Gets Weirder

Launches June 26 | Platform: PlayStation 5

Hideo Kojima is back with another strange, emotional, mind-bending experience. Death Stranding 2 brings back Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges. But this time, things are even more surreal.

Here’s what’s confirmed so far:

  • Expanded combat mechanics

  • New locations beyond Iceland

  • More vehicle types

  • Possibly a more coherent story

You’ll still cry over packages. There are still bizarre puns, goo monsters, weird babies, and beautiful landscapes. Maybe another reference to “Princess Beach.”

Expect cameos, unexpected music, and quiet emotional moments that hit hard. Kojima is still unmatched when it comes to the bizarre.

June Is Absolutely Stacked

June 2025 isn’t just good for gaming, it might be the biggest gaming month ever.

We're all getting:

  • A brand-new Nintendo console

  • A groundbreaking open-world Mario Kart

  • Remastered Zelda in 4K, with new features

  • Cyberpunk 2077 running on a handheld

  • A Dune game that respects the source and scares you

  • A PC port of one of 2024’s best action titles

  • And a sequel from the most unpredictable creator in games

What are you playing first?

Whatever platform you love, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. There’s something huge waiting, and this is just one month. July has the GTA 6 Online Beta. August brings Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. But June is where it all explodes.

So cancel your weekend plans, call in sick, unplug from the real world, and maybe set a budget. Gaming season is officially here.
