Pixelcraft Studios has launched Patch 0.7.0 for Gotchi Guardians, a free-to-play tower defense survival game in the Aavegotchi ecosystem. This major update adds new features and gameplay elements, delivering a more strategic blockchain gaming experience.

Gotchi Guardians Patch 0.7.0: A Game-Changing Update

One of the biggest changes is the new Event System. Players now face choices at the start of each round, selecting from two randomly generated options. Each choice increases the game’s difficulty in some way while offering a reward. For example, you could unlock a new tower while powering up certain enemies or boost your critical damage at the cost of faster-moving foes. You can reroll these options to try for a better balance between risk and reward.

Rounds are now grouped into in-game days, each with five rounds. This new setup adds more variety and requires constant tactical adjustments, making matches more unpredictable and engaging.

The update introduces Lickquidator Squads, replacing the need to place enemies individually. Players now choose one of three Lickquidator types—Dire Tire, Funguy, or Steady Lad—at the start of each match to form a squad.

At the end of each in-game day, players face Lickquidator Bosses. Currently, there are two bosses: The Licker and Mamaship. These bosses are tougher versions of regular enemies and gain special abilities from day two onward. Their random selection adds an extra layer of challenge.

Each Guardian now has exclusive buffs tied to the Event System. For instance, only the Knight Guardian can gain armor or attack boosts, while the Farmer can increase the critical chance and critical damage of their towers. These unique modifiers make character selection more impactful and add another layer of strategy.

A new currency called Upgrade Seeds has been added for tower upgrades. Unlike the standard currency used for leveling up towers, Upgrade Seeds unlock special upgrades. Players can acquire these seeds by purchasing the new Seed Breeder item during matches. The Seed Breeder starts with one Upgrade Seed but gains an additional seed for each round it remains unused. Players can also obtain seeds through the Event System’s random rewards.

Additionally, the update brings seven new special tower upgrades and introduces new upgrade paths, making towers more distinct and customizable.

Play to Airdrop with the GOTCHI Campaign

Patch 0.7.0 aligns with Aavegotchi’s GOTCHI airdrop campaign on the Geist blockchain. Players can start earning Badges by completing in-game objectives, which can be used to spin the GOTCHI Wheel. Prizes include up to 50k GOTCHI Points, with a total pool of 8.4 million points currently available.

GOTCHI Points contribute to leaderboard rankings, determining allocations of the upcoming $GOTCHI token. Described as a “culture token,” $GOTCHI will serve as the main currency in the Gotchiverse for activities like questing and crafting. The token launch is set for early 2025.

To spin the GOTCHI Wheel, players must become Geist VIP Members. Membership requires an invite code, which can be obtained through giveaways, partners, or Aavegotchi owners. Invite codes were initially airdropped to Aavegotchi NFT holders, but additional codes may be distributed in the future. Membership includes a 7-day free trial, after which a subscription is required. Players can redeem invite codes and manage memberships through the Geist dApp.
