The Wrigley company, the American multinational gum company, has revealed its plans to dive into the metaverse and Web3. The company is the world’s leading manufacturer of the sweet things we put into our mouths - chocolate, chewing gum, mints, and fruity candies

Intellectual Property Attorney, Mike Kondoudis, tweeted that Wrigley has filed a trademark application for JUICYVERSE. The patent application was filed on March 24, 2023, and was revealed to the public just five days later on March 29th.

Other companies have also revealed patents for their dive into Web3 and NFTs, but the revelations of their patents were only revealed after a year or so to protect company information. Wrigley's application seeks to claim for:

  • NFTs and NFT-Backed Media
  • Virtual and Physical Candy
  • Crypto-Collectible Sharing Software.

NFTs or non-fungible tokens are the cornerstones of the Web3 and metaverse industries. Through its technology, NFTs allow for the creation and ownership of unique digital assets, such as virtual real estate, art, and collectibles.

What Can We Expect?

The company is one of the most popular and successful candy companies out there. It is known for numerous iconic sweet products such as Juicy Fruit, Spearmint, Doublemint, Life Savers, Skittles, and Starburst

The patent will allow Wrigley to create a range of virtual products such as music, music clips, digital avatars, and more. From the patent, the company seeks to establish candy-themed digital collectibles and cement itself in the industry by creating a brand-specific (sweets, candy, gum) experience in the metaverse.

Mars Wrigley joins other top brands, companies, and icons in the metaverse, from luxury brands like GucciH&M, and Louis Vuitton to car manufacturers and massive media companies like WarnerSony, and Vespa.

Final Thoughts

As the metaverse continues to grow and evolve, it will be interesting to see how companies like Wrigley adapt and innovate in this new digital landscape. The future of the metaverse is bright, and with companies like Wrigley leading the way, it's sure to be a sweet ride.
