Wild Forest Releases the New Perks Rarity System
After initially introducing Perks in May 2024, Wild Forest developers have now completely revamped this feature. The new Perks Rarity System is officially live in the Ronin-powered, free-to-play RTS game. This update changes how Perks work and offers players new strategies with added depth to gameplay.

The new system introduces rarity levels to Perks. Almost all Perks now come in three rarity types: Common (gray), Uncommon (green), and Rare (blue). Higher rarity Perks offer stronger attributes compared to their Common counterparts.
Units have a 60% chance of receiving a Common Perk, a 30% chance for Uncommon, and a 10% chance for Rare. For example, the Aggression Perk increases damage by +10% as a Common Perk. If you unlock it as Uncommon, it boosts damage to +16.7%, while the Rare version increases damage by +23.3%.
While most abilities exist across all rarity levels, some are exclusive to a specific rarity:
- Common: Efficiency, Elusive, Massive
- Uncommon: Piercing Damage, Armor Destroyer
- Rare: Thunder God
The developers fixed these abilities to maintain gameplay balance and ensure consistency.
What Happens to Existing Perks?
For players who assigned Perks to Units before this update, there’s no need to worry. The stats remain unchanged, but their rarity levels have been adjusted for balance. Some Perks have received upgrades:
- Siege: From Common to Uncommon
- Skilled Healer: From Common to Uncommon
- Vitality: From Common to Uncommon
- Massive Healing: From Uncommon to Rare
- Fire Range: From Common to Rare
If your Units had any of these Perks before, their rarity will now reflect these changes. However, the attributes remain the same.
This system gives players more options when customizing their decks. With three rarity levels, it adds variety to gameplay and unlocks new strategies. Players can now experiment with Perk combinations to find the perfect setup for competitive matches.
The update also influences Unit pricing on the Mavis Market. Players might seek out Units with specific Perks, especially Rare ones, if they aren’t lucky enough to unlock the abilities they want. This could impact in-game trading and strategy.

How to Unlock Perks in Wild Forest
Perks are passive abilities that enhance your Units with unique bonuses. To unlock Perks, you need to rank up Units to Epic, Legendary, or Mystic ranks. Ranking up requires merging multiple Units or Unit NFTs and paying a fee in $WF tokens. The process burns the Units used.
Each Unit can have up to 3 Perks, depending on its rank:
- Epic Units: 1 Perk
- Legendary Units: 2 Perks
- Mystic Units: 3 Perks
Perks are randomly assigned when ranking up, offering different abilities suited to various playstyles. Previously, Perks followed a group system where certain abilities were restricted to specific Units or Unit types. Now, every Unit of Epic rank or higher has a chance to unlock any available Perk, making the system more flexible.
The updated whitepaper reveals that players will soon have the option to re-roll Perks. This feature will allow even greater customization and strategic depth. Developers hinted at multiple re-roll options to ensure players get the abilities they want.
Earlier this month, Wild Forest developer Zillion Whales launched the $WF Community Round. It was a massive success, raising $2 million with $6.7 million in open allocation requests. Shortly after, the $WF token officially launched on the Katana DEX.
With the new Perks Rarity System, Wild Forest continues to expand its gameplay options, giving players more reasons to dive in and discover new strategies. For competitive RTS fans, this update adds another layer of excitement and challenge.
