Ubisoft Partners with Immutable for New Might & Magic Game

Ubisoft has announced a new move into blockchain gaming. This time, it’s through a partnership with Immutable. Together, they’re working on a strategy card game called Might & Magic: Fates. The game expands upon the venerable Might & Magic series from Ubisoft.. It will be available on iOS and Android, with a free-to-play model. Players will collect and trade cards that feature heroes and creatures from the franchise.

Might & Magic: Fates will focus on turn-based strategy and deep deck-building. Players can collect hundreds of cards and use unique mechanics tied to different factions. This method assists players in creating a playstyle that suits their tastes. According to Ubisoft, the game will be designed to keep both new and experienced fans engaged. The card designs will feature iconic creatures and warriors that longtime fans of the franchise will recognize.

Nicolas Pouard, Ubisoft’s Vice President of Strategic Innovation Lab, shared his thoughts in a public statement. He mentioned that Might & Magic has always held a strong place in strategy gaming. The goal with Fates is to keep that tradition alive. He also noted that the game will remain true to what made the series special from the start. Ubisoft believes the new card game format will help bring the franchise to a new generation of mobile gamers.

Immutable Brings Its Blockchain Experience to the Table

Immutable is well-known in the blockchain gaming world. The company is behind Gods Unchained, an NFT-based card game.It utilizes two scaling methods, Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM, and is based on Ethereum. The firm recently shared that it intends to combine the two networks into the more recent zkEVM. This change is meant to streamline the experience for players and developers.

Immutable’s focus on scaling and NFT tech makes it a strong partner for Ubisoft. They can provide the tools to support trading and ownership of in-game cards. This brings more value to the cards beyond gameplay. Players will have the chance to trade cards in ways that traditional games don’t allow.

Ubisoft has been testing the waters in blockchain for a few years. It’s one of the only major game publishers to do so actively. In late 2024, Ubisoft released two other blockchain-based titles. These were Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles and Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.. The company also tried other blockchain experiments and invested in a few crypto-related startups.

This new collaboration with Immutable was first mentioned in November 2023. It marks another step forward in Ubisoft’s push to explore new types of games using blockchain tools. It shows the company’s interest in making games that allow players to own, trade, and interact with digital assets.

Following the game announcement, Immutable’s IMX token saw a sharp increase in value. The token rose by 48% over the past week. It’s now trading near $0.60. The rise helped IMX move back into the top 100 crypto assets by market cap, after briefly falling out earlier in the month. This price movement may reflect growing excitement around the company’s projects and partnerships.

Might & Magic: Fates represents a shift in how mobile games can operate. It combines blockchain technology with the complexity of traditional strategy card games. Players won’t just collect cards—they’ll own them, trade them, and shape their decks in new ways. For fans of the Might & Magic universe, this game could offer something fresh while staying true to the world they know.

Ubisoft and Immutable are both betting on this blend of traditional gaming and blockchain. The result could open the door for other franchises to follow.
