Shardbound, the highly anticipated multiplayer tactical game, is set to launch its open beta on June 27th exclusively on the Epic Games Store. This release marks a significant step forward for the game, following a strong community response that pushed developers to move forward with their Web3 title.

What to Expect in the Beta Release

In this upcoming beta phase, available for an unspecified duration, players can dive into Shardbound’s immersive world of strategic gameplay. Set on hexagonal battlefields, the game combines tactical depth with stunning 3D visuals. Building on feedback from the Exclusive Beta, this release introduces new cards, packs, and enhanced artwork for characters, spells, relics, and equipment. Updates to gameplay mechanics, matchmaking, and user interface aim to improve accessibility and overall enjoyment. Notably, adjustments to card leveling promise more balanced deck power, ensuring a fairer competitive environment.

Players will also engage with Faction Battle Passes, offering a variety of quests to earn faction cards. Daily, weekly, and periodic challenges provide opportunities to earn experience points (XP), unlock new Battle Pass levels, and obtain Royal Marks. These marks can be used in the in-game shop to purchase cards, enhancing deck customization and strategy.

Throughout gameplay, duplicate cards may accumulate. Shardbound introduces a Card Upgrades feature, allowing players to enhance card stats by merging duplicates. This system empowers players to strengthen their favorite cards, enhancing their health, attack, or spell capabilities over time.

Pre-registration Details

Interested players can pre-register on Shardbound’s official website using their email or Immutable Passport. Pre-registering not only ensures early access but also grants exclusive rewards, including a playable card during the first week of the public beta. Immutable Passport holders gain instant access upon release, maximizing convenience for eager players.

Shardbound offers a free-to-play experience centered on strategic card-based gameplay. Matches unfold on hexagonal maps where players deploy cards that transform into 3D units. The goal is straightforward: defeat the opposing commander or accumulate 10 Victory Points to claim victory.

Victory Points are earned by interacting with Victory Crystals scattered across the battlefield. While striking a crystal grants 1 point, destroying it awards 2 points and additional Mana Gems. These resources are vital for summoning units, casting spells, and executing strategic maneuvers. Importantly, Victory Points must be secured for a full turn to count, creating opportunities for opponents to steal points by eliminating units.

Deck Composition and Gameplay Mechanics

A well-rounded deck in Shardbound includes five card types: Commander, Relic, Minion, Spell, and Equipment. Commanders and Minions belong to one of five distinct factions, each represented by a unique color. Commanders are positioned opposite each other at the start of the match, while Minions must be summoned onto the battlefield strategically.

Relics, equipped by Commanders, confer special abilities and can enable Dual Faction Decks, introducing complex strategic possibilities. Spells offer diverse effects, from healing to altering terrain, while Equipment enhances Minion strength with weapons and armor. With its upcoming open beta launch on June 27th, Shardbound promises a blend of strategic depth and visually engaging gameplay on the Epic Games Store platform. Players can look forward to exploring new cards, refined mechanics, and a rewarding progression system through Faction Battle Passes. Whether you're a seasoned tactician or new to the genre, Shardbound aims to deliver an accessible yet nuanced gaming experience in the evolving landscape of blockchain-based entertainment.
