OverTrip Launches Third Season on Epic Games Store
OverTrip, a vibrant third-person battle royale shooter, is now available on PC via the Epic Games Store. The launch coincides with the start of its third in-game content season. The update introduces an exciting "skill mode" that lets players wager real money, including the game’s newly introduced meme coin, on their performance.
OverTrip operates as a multi-chain project. Its token, TRIP, launched on Solana, while NFTs are minted on the Ethereum mainnet. The game plans to expand further by building on Soneium, an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by Sony and Startale. This approach highlights OverTrip’s commitment to blockchain technology in gaming, allowing seamless integration across networks.

TRIP launched on November 30 via Pump.fun. The token enables in-game transactions, such as purchasing skins and participating in skill mode. However, TRIP is currently down 23% in value, sitting at a $5.5 million market cap. The token launch strategy included 8% of the supply for player rewards, 4.2% for marketing, and 4% for exchange listings and liquidity.
The skill mode feature allows players to bet real money on their game performance. Bets range from $0.10 to $0.99, and winnings depend on placing in the top three of a match. A win earns tokens, but a loss means losing the wagered amount. Players can also use the SuperVerse token, SUPER, to wager and earn.

OverTrip’s new wagering feature earned the game an "Adults Only" (AO) rating from the ESRB. This rating reflects the inclusion of real money wagering, distinguishing it from traditional free-to-play models.
The third-season update also brings private lobbies with customizable wager terms, new skins, and a deathmatch mode. The flagship battle royale mode, which previously supported 20-player games, now accommodates up to 50 players in larger, more competitive battles.
Airdrop Campaign and Player Feedback
TRIP tokens were distributed to players through airdrop campaigns via Trippy Terminal, which automatically created Solana wallets for users. However, the campaign faced criticism. Many players expressed disappointment in the small airdrop allocations, with some humorously commenting on the gap between their expectations and reality.
The OverTrip team claims it is working on an on-chain report to provide transparency regarding the token’s distribution. Interestingly, no formal allocation was made to the team during the token launch, though members could have purchased tokens before the public announcement.

OverTrip’s airdrop frustrations echo a broader trend in gaming. Players often find rewards from airdrop campaigns underwhelming, receiving small amounts after extended gameplay. This mirrors similar issues in tap-to-earn games, where rewards often fail to meet player expectations.
With its vibrant gameplay, blockchain integration, and real-money wagering, OverTrip is carving a niche in the gaming and crypto space. However, player satisfaction and token performance remain crucial for its long-term success.
