Rumble Arcade has recently released a whitepaper outlining their vision for the game and its creators, Tribo Games. The studio, made up of seasoned mobile gaming experts, aims to lead the way in the next generation of multiplayer games. Their main focus in the web3 space includes strong and active open economies and Decentralized Live Operations.

$3.3 Million in New Funding

Alongside the whitepaper launch, Rumble Arcade has announced they have raised $3.3 million in funding. This round includes support from notable investors and funds from both the crypto and gaming industries. Key backers are Play Ventures, Liquid X, Lizard Labs, and Avalanche. Merit Circle is also a significant investor and strategic partner, with Rumble Arcade built on the Beam blockchain.

Mika Kuusisto, CEO of Tribo Games, shared his thoughts: “The company was founded on the idea that players deserve better. Aligning incentives is crucial for our growth, and it offers an exciting chance to explore new gameplay patterns. Innovative business models lead to new gaming content. We see where the gaming industry is heading and want to be the first to reach that point.”

Expanding the Games-as-a-Service Model

Rumble Arcade focuses on competitive events to distribute rewards on the blockchain and keep the game dynamic. The studio is opening opportunities for third parties to host their own events within the game and benefit from popular activities. This concept is referred to as Decentralized Live Ops.

The whitepaper outlines plans to create a flexible event framework for community involvement. The ongoing Community Cup provides a glimpse of this model, where gaming guilds and other groups are co-hosting three-day competitions within the game.

Borja Guillan, CPO of Tribo Games, commented: “Live operations are essential for creating long-lasting games and modern gaming IP. Web3 technology allows us to advance the games-as-a-service model to an ecosystem-based model. We provide the platform, and you bring the excitement.”

Progress in Open Development

The studio is committed to rapid development and close feedback with the community. Players have had access to an alpha version of Rumble Arcade since July 2023. Tribo Games aims to set a new standard for mainstream web3 games by focusing on features like easy onboarding and a lightweight client.

While the studio is focusing on the mobile market, cross-platform play is also a key part of their strategy for both their first title and future releases. Rumble Arcade is available on browsers and as a progressive web app.
