German luxury car manufacturer, Porsche, continues its foray into the metaverse with the release of Porsche vehicle NFTs. The company revealed plans during the Art Basel in Miami, Florida.

The collection will amount to a total of 7,500 unique NFTs in which the collaboration in the design will be with 3D artist Patrick Vogel. Moreover, potential owners can select their NFTs within three available themes, Lifestyle, Performance, and Heritage

Asset owners will have the power to influence the design of their NFTs. Using the influence of the different themes, Porsche seeks to “take our understanding of modern luxury and the unique brand positioning of Porsche into the digital worlds” as stated by Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sale and Marketing.

This has not been Porsche’s first venture into the metaverse. Previously, the company ran an NFT rewards program using digital badges. However, this current push signifies that the car manufacturing company is definitely increasing its exposure to web3.

Gaming Integration

The virtual assets will be designed and presented using Epic Game’s Unreal Engine 5. This could suggest the possibility of gaming integrations that comes with the luxury-designed virtual vehicles.

Unreal Engine 5 is a 3D game graphics engine developed by Epic Games. The engine enables game developers and creators to generate real-time 3D content. In the gaming space, AAA titles are crafted using this engine. A large chunk of the top NFT games trending is known to use this engine since it offers an elevated gaming experience.

The company has not yet gone into the specifics but asset owners will soon be able to use the cars in the virtual worlds. Coupled with the unreal engine, it might not be far-fetched to think that we might see a Porsche-related crypto game of some sort.
