Parasol Announces Code of Joker: Evolutions on Sui

Parasol, the gaming infrastructure subsidiary of Sui network contributor Mysten Labs, confirmed that Code of Joker: Evolutions will launch on the Sui blockchain. Sega, one of the largest names in gaming, has licensed the intellectual property on which the game is based. By bringing a classic trading card game online, this activity gives players a new and easy way to play it.

In 2013, Sega released the initial iteration of Code of Joker as an arcade game. It combined strategy, deck building, and fast-paced battle, making it a unique contribution to the trading card game genre. But because the game could only be played on arcade machines, its appeal was limited.

Jokers Inc. will create the updated version, Code of Joker: Evolutions. This edition will be widely accessible because it can be played on mobile devices and online browsers, unlike its predecessor. The game will use blockchain technology to introduce contemporary advancements while reviving the franchise.

The incorporation of blockchain technology is among Code of Joker: Evolutions' most significant modifications. Players will be able to own, trade, and display their digital trading cards through the game's use of the Sui blockchain. This change gives digital collections a tangible value by guaranteeing that players actually own their in-game assets.

Like real trading cards, gamers can safely buy, sell, or trade their cards using this new method. Because blockchain technology is decentralized, there will be less chance of fraud or duplicate.

According to Jokers Inc. co-founder Takashi "Gin" Mizouka, one of the main goals of the new game was to replicate the feeling of opening a physical card pack. He stated that Sui was the only blockchain capable of making this vision a reality.

Sui's high-speed transactions and low fees make it an ideal choice for a digital trading card game. Players will be able to open packs, collect rare cards, and make trades instantly, without the slow processing times seen on other blockchains.

Sega’s Blockchain Gaming Strategy

Sega is not directly developing Code of Joker: Evolutions. Instead, the company is licensing its IP, similar to its approach with the game Battle of Three Kingdoms. That game, developed by Double Jump Tokyo, was released on the Oasys blockchain.

Sega has taken a cautious approach to blockchain gaming. While it is exploring the space, the company has avoided bringing its biggest franchises into blockchain gaming during this experimental phase. The trademark filing for Code of Joker: Evolutions in 2023 fueled speculation about its return, and now, the official announcement has confirmed it.

Sui’s gaming ecosystem continues to grow. Another revived IP, Samurai Shodown R, licensed from SNK, is set to launch on Sui this year. In addition, SuiPlay0X1, a Sui-branded gaming handheld, will also be released in 2025, with pre-orders priced at $599.

By launching on the Sui blockchain, Code of Joker: Evolutions will introduce new ways to engage with trading card games. Longtime supporters and new participants may be drawn in by the mix of blockchain technology, actual ownership, and increased accessibility.

When the game is released in late summer 2025, it will be a significant advancement for blockchain gaming.
