Significant Update for Off the Grid

Off the Grid, an Avalanche-based battle royale shooter, has rolled out its largest update since entering early access in October. Performance enhancements, several weapon balancing updates, and a revamp of scoped guns are just a few of the significant changes included in the update. The purpose of these modifications is to improve the overall gameplay experience and get the game ready for further upgrades.

Off the Grid has received a lot of attention since its early access release, particularly as a result of viral videos that highlighted the game's distinctive features. These videos attracted new players as they swiftly became viral on social media. The game even surpassed Epic's flagship game, Fortnite, to become the most popular free-to-play PC game on Epic Games' list. Both casual and competitive players are drawn to the game because of its unique features and quick-paced gameplay.

Reworking Scoped Weapons

Although scoped weapons, including sniper rifles, include first-person features, Off the Grid is fundamentally a third-person shooter. The switch between first-person and third-person perspectives in previous iterations of the game was abrupt and didn't give players any real advantages. The new update introduces a system known as Proper First-Person Perspective in Aim Down Sights mode, or TrueFPV. This overhaul aims to make scoped weapons feel more natural and seamless in gameplay.

With the update, players can expect new reticles, improved field of vision, and more accurate weapons.Although some players on the official Discord have expressed worries that it might be too overpowering at the present, aim assist for controller gamers has also been improved. Additionally, adjustments to camera shake and weapon sway contribute to a more intense and engaging fighting experience.

One of the main complaints about Off the Grid, particularly on PCs, has been its performance. The game's frames per second (FPS) should increase by 10% to 20% with the most recent update. On consoles, players will benefit from improved options, including fidelity and performance modes. Fidelity mode provides a 10% FPS boost, while performance mode can enhance FPS by as much as 40%. These updates should help the game run smoother and provide a better overall experience for players across different platforms.

The update also brings some changes to the game’s backpacks, which now have enhanced visual effects to help players better understand their purpose. For example, the limb accelerator backpack now displays a visual cue when a cyberlimb is being charged, making it easier for players to track their progress. On the other hand, the Gridshield Backpack has been nerfed, reducing its zone damage protection from full immunity to just 50%. This change is likely to encourage players to adapt their strategies when using the backpack.

Weapon and Movement Overhaul

The patch notes reveal a series of weapon and cyberlimb changes that are likely to shift the game’s current meta. With four pages of adjustments, players can expect the balance of power between different weapons and cyberlimbs to be redefined. The in-game movement mechanics have also been modified in conjunction with these adjustments. Although some Discord users have complained that the game feels slower now that these changes have been made, the creators have said that these modifications are required to enhance gameplay and get ready for the future.

As Off the Grid gets ready to launch a ranked mode, these modifications and tweaks are all a part of the development process. The game will become even more competitive with the ranked mode, which will allow players to showcase their skills in a more regulated environment. The changes made to weapon balance, performance, and movement as players advance into this new phase of competitive play are all meant to enhance and captivate the experience.
