Oasys launches first NFT Project on its platform in Partnership with Shenmue Creator

Oasys, a gaming-optimized blockchain, announces the launch of OASYX, the first NFT project built on Oasys’ native blockchain, in collaboration with critically acclaimed game development executive, Yu Suzuki.

With the help of renowned designers, artists, and developers from well-known traditional game companies, OASYX will produce a variety of NFTs. At launch, Suzuki will oversee the artistic direction of OASYX’s first series of NFTs, which will be released by double jump.tokyo, a Japanese blockchain game developer.

Who is Yu Suzuki

Suzuki is a well-known pioneer in the gaming industry and the former long-time leader of SEGA’s R&D division. He is most known for creating several of SEGA’s greatest arcade games, including the Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, and Shenmue series. He is a crucial force for innovation in the Japanese gaming industry both technologically and culturally.

Together with GODTAIL, a multi-talented Japanese digital artist responsible for a variety of anime-themed artworks and designs, Suzuki will be in charge of the overall theme and art direction of OASYX’s first NFT series. The first series entails the free-to-own distribution of 10,000 unique characters that will act as the foundation for upcoming metaverse avatars.

OASYX plans to deliver a greater variety of NFTs with extra use cases in later series, such as new characters, attire, and gaming accessories.

Yu Suzuki noted that they anticipate OASYX to act as a launchpad for the success of NFTs in the near future as the first NFT project on the Oasys chain, in which SEGA, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, and other top game creators are participating. They also think that the management of world-building, which is still in its early phases, has significant value for this business, and that OASYX is well-positioned to play a significant role in efforts to uncover new value in digital data.

The launch of OASYX marks the culmination of a remarkable year for Oasys, which saw the conclusion of a total $20M private token sale, a public token sale, and a strategic fundraising round. The Mainnet launch of Oasys, which was first announced in October 2022, is also nearing completion.
