Hamster Kombat Sets Official Launch Date for HMSTR Token and Airdrop Event
After a delay, Hamster Kombat, a game on Telegram with a Tap-to-Earn mechanism, has confirmed the launch date for the HMSTR token. The team also announced an upcoming airdrop event for users next month.
According to a post on their X (formerly Twitter) channel, which has over 12.6 million followers, the Hamster Kombat team revealed that the Token Generation Event (TGE) and airdrop will officially occur on September 26, 2024. This marks a significant event for the community.

Although the exact token distribution ratio hasn't been shared, the development team's whitepaper previously mentioned that 60% of the total token supply will be airdropped to players. They claim this will be "the biggest airdrop event in crypto history." This bold statement has generated significant anticipation among the community.
One of the most played Web3 games on Telegram right now is Hamster Kombat, which gained popularity due to its Tap-to-Earn idle earning function.Almost 300 million people have played the game since its release in the summer of 2024. Over 80 million gamers were active in the last month alone, according to Telegram data.
How Players Can Earn HMSTR Tokens
The game's simplicity is a big draw. Players just need to tap their mouse in the application and complete required tasks. These actions earn them in-game token points, which can later be redeemed for HMSTR tokens when the airdrop event happens. This model is similar to other popular games like PixelTap, OKX Racer, DJDOG by HashKey, and Binance Launchpool 54's Notcoin (NOT).

One unique aspect of Hamster Kombat is its refusal to accept any funding from investment funds. This approach is intended to maintain the game’s authenticity, honor the efforts of its players, and ensure that only those who actually play the game receive rewards.
The HMSTR token was initially scheduled for a TGE in July but was delayed to allow more preparation time for the airdrop event, which will distribute up to 60% of the supply to players. However, the project has also faced unexpected challenges, particularly from the Iranian government and its large player community.
Iranian officials have expressed concerns that Hamster Kombat could be a "soft power" tool used by the West to distract the public from the country's presidential election in June 2024. This has led to some tensions between the game developers and the Iranian authorities.
There was also some controversy within the gaming community when an unconfirmed source leaked information about the tokenomics. The leak suggested that only 1% of the total supply of 10 billion HMSTR tokens would be airdropped to users. With 300 million participants, this would mean each user would only receive around 0.4 HMSTR, sparking outrage and disappointment among players.
The airdrop announcement was made just hours after The Open Network (TON) experienced downtime due to the launch of the memecoin DOGS, which strained the network and slowed down transaction speeds. As of now, the HMSTR token is priced between $0.16 and $0.19 in the pre-market.
Final Thoughts
The upcoming TGE and airdrop event for Hamster Kombat is highly anticipated, especially with the promise of being the largest airdrop in crypto history. Despite facing delays and challenges, the game’s popularity continues to grow, and the community eagerly awaits the distribution of HMSTR tokens.
