Gangster Arena Season 5

Gangster Arena, an on-chain strategy game, is returning for Season 5 on Wednesday, September 25th, offering a free-to-play and play-to-earn experience. Available on both mobile and browsers, this season introduces several upgrades to enhance the web3 gaming experience. A free mint event on September 20th offers players the chance to gain a head start in the new competitive season. Let's explore what the free mint and the new season will offer.

The free mint event starts on September 20th at 11 AM UTC+8. Players will be able to mint a chest containing a variety of Gangster NFTs. Gangsters are the core units in Gangster Arena, providing reputation, generating the non-tradable offchain currency xGREED, and participating in gang wars. Gangsters are the only units capable of attacking other players' bases.

This event includes a whitelist phase and a first-come, first-served (FCFS) round. Whitelist spots are given to players from previous seasons and community partners. If you're not eligible, you can try your luck in the FCFS round, but supply is limited to 500. Each mint guarantees at least one Gangster NFT, with a chance to receive up to 99. The link for the event will be shared on the game's official Twitter/X and Discord closer to the start time.

Season 5 introduces a new unit, the Thugs. Thugs are automatically given to players when they log in, with up to 50 extra Thugs claimable by linking wallets from partnered communities. These units generate a non-tradable currency called $POOR, which can be used to acquire more Thugs or bid for rewards in the auction house.

A new Beginners Bundle also allows new players to buy Gangsters and Goons at a 20% discount. This bundle costs 2.5k $POOR and a small amount of ETH. The new season also brings improvements to raids, making pistols and shields one-time-use items. Players who attack weaker targets will earn 50% fewer points, and there’s now an option to opt out of raids. Defense mechanics are also adjusted, with streak bonuses and penalties for consecutive wins or losses.

A new feature this season is the midseason leaderboards. Thirty-five percent of the season's rewards will be allocated to a leaderboard ending five days into the season. The rest of the rewards will be distributed at the end of the season, so players must strategize whether to aim for midseason rewards or wait for bigger prizes.

A new referral system has been introduced. Players can give their referrals a 1% discount on $GREED, while they will receive 1% of what their referrals spend. Partners and communities can get a custom code that increases the discount to 2.5%.

Gangster Arena Season 5 Prize Pool

The Season 5 prize pool includes 12.5 million $GREED, 2 ETH, 0.2 $xU, and 43k Blast Gold, valued at over $50k. Player spending actions increase the pool size, with 100% of ETH from the Gangster presale going to the pool and 90% of $GREED spent also contributing (the remaining 10% is burned).

Blast Gold rewards are divided into four categories: Early Starter Bonus, Thugs Auction House, Midseason Leaderboard, and Content. Early starters who claim Thugs first will receive 20 Gold each. Players can also spend $POOR to bid for Blast Gold at the auction house. The biggest prize pool is tied to the midseason leaderboard, where 22,799 Blast Gold will be distributed based on leaderboard rankings. Finally, the best Twitter threads or content will share 1000 Blast Gold, with the community voting for the winners.
