Esports powerhouse TSM (Team SoloMid) has announced a new partnership with blockchain platform Avalanche. This exclusive partnership will see the creation of a custom subnet on Avalanche's blockchain, using $AVAX token as gas, for TSM's competitive gaming platform Blitz.
Blitz is an iconic application that helps gamers optimize and improve their gameplay by implementing analysis, overlays, and competition for all kinds of player levels. Players are known to use this app with the top esports games such as Valorant and League of Legends.

The deal will also enable TSM to host Avalanche-branded tournaments on the Blitz Subnet, complete with insights and learning tools to help gamers improve their skills. With over 30 million players using the platform, this partnership will allow even more gamers to compete in the Blitz Arena for prizes.
What it means for Web3
The new partnership will help onboard gamers and esports players to web3, creating more opportunities to engage with the growing world of blockchain and cryptocurrency. Web3 gaming has always struggled with mass adoption. The industry is currently addressing its many hurdles to reach its technology to traditional gamers.

This is not the first time TSM has entered into a partnership with the crypto industry, having previously worked with now-bankrupt exchange FTX. It was the largest esports sponsorship deal in history valued at $210 million and has now led to the removal of FTX branding from TSM’s organization, players, and social media profiles.
Andy Dinh, CEO of TSM, expressed his excitement about partnering with Avalanche, stating that “I am excited to partner with Avalanche on experiences that will add value to our users and fans…. together we share a long-term vision of building products that are authentic and beneficial to our community."
In addition to the benefits for TSM and Avalanche, the partnership will also have a positive impact on the gaming community as a whole. By integrating blockchain technology into the esports world, development towards more competitive web3 games will receive a boost. This will allow gamers to experience new ways to play their favorite web3 games in the future.
Final Thoughts
The partnership between esports giant TSM and Avalanch marks an intriguing development for esports and web3. This signifies that TSM is still not shying away from web3 even after its failed collaboration with Sam bankman-fried’s FTX.
We hope to see more of what the partnership will produce in the future.
