The goal of this partnership is to give web2 players a seamless onboarding experience while enabling authentic and accessible asset ownership. Mark Laursen, the CEO and Founder of Bright Star Studios, highlighted the importance of this partnership. The studio is enhancing the way in which players manage their in-game assets by incorporating Mantle's blockchain capabilities. This collaboration aims to provide a better gaming experience for players who might not be familiar with web3 concepts; it's not simply about technology. Laursen stressed that Ember Sword and the game industry as a whole will benefit greatly from this partnership.

Mantle's Role in the Gaming Experience

Within Ember Sword, Mantle's modular Ethereum rollup technology will play a critical role in enabling safe, scalable transactions with minimal fees. Because of this, players can engage in the player-driven economy of the game without worrying about the complexities of blockchain technology. Head of Gaming at Mantle Geezee expressed excitement about the partnership and mentioned how well it aligns with Mantle's mission to empower players to use blockchain technology.

Through the collaboration, transparent transactions will be possible on Ember Sword's player-driven marketplace using Mantle's EVM-compatible chain. This will give players true control over their assets. Joris Huijbregts, the Founder and Chief Development Officer of Bright Star Studios, explained that the partnership allows the team to create a more engaging player economy. By integrating with the best tools and partners within the Mantle Ecosystem, they aim to offer a scalable and sustainable user journey.

For players unfamiliar with blockchain technology, the partnership ensures that their gaming experience won't be hindered. Ember Sword will make it easy for players to use blockchain economy features if they choose to, thanks to the seamless integration of Mantle’s technology. The studio has also hinted at upcoming details regarding asset migration, as they previously moved from Polygon to Immutable X in 2022 and are now building on a new chain.

Last month, Bright Star Studios launched the first closed beta for Ember Sword. Following the conclusion of this playtest, the developers shared an update showcasing various playtest statistics and teased new features for an upcoming public test session scheduled for later this year. The playtest saw over 100k sessions, with players spending a total of 41k combined hours. Players collected Canavar Head NFTs, which could be used to enter a raffle for land plots or participate in team competitions for a chance to win upcoming $EMBER tokens.

Exciting Features in the Next Playtest

In the next playtest, players can expect to see Mantle integrated into Ember Sword along with new features such as Quests, Treasure Maps, Vending Machines, and Caravans. Other updates include a Friends List, the ability to merge cosmetics, and three new professions: fishing, cooking, and jewelry creation. The Capital will become a safe zone, and new areas, cosmetics, resources, bosses, and creatures will be introduced to enhance the gaming experience.
