Season 4: Ranked & Reckless is Live

Anichess has launched Season 4: Ranked & Reckless. There’s $10,000 worth of $C tokens waiting for the top players. Whether you’ve been casting spells since the beginning or you're completely new, now is the time to jump in. This is the final season before the playoffs. One last chance to show your strength on the board.

All player ratings have been reset. That means everyone begins from the same point. No one gets a head start. New players get a fair shot. Veterans get a fresh climb. The ranking system still uses the Glicko-2 model. It’s now just called “Rating” to keep things clear.

Anichess is not your average chess game. It combines blockchain technology, magic spells, and traditional chess. It may be played for free on the web. Animoca Brands and Chess.com collaborated to build the game. Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen also supports it.

Just like in a typical game of chess, you move your pieces. However, you can also perform spells and gather mana. The way the game is played is altered by these spells. You have the ability to transform components into new ones, acquire short-term abilities, or alter your entire approach. It's a variation on chess.

Daily Rewards with M8 Points

M8 is a daily incentive system introduced in Season 4. It monitors your web3 activities and is based on Base. You gain more M8 points the more you play.

To qualify each day, just complete at least one match. It can be Quick or Ranked. You’ll earn 10 M8 for playing 1–4 matches. You can earn up to 150 M8 for playing 50 or more.

You also earn M8 based on your rank. Higher ranks like Legend can get 800 M8 per day. New players still earn at least 10, even without a rank.

Important note: M8 points expire at 00:00 UTC every day. Don’t forget to hit the Claim button at the top of the screen.

Season 4 has its own M8 leaderboard. M8 points from previous seasons do not carry over. Only points earned in this season count. That means everyone starts fresh. Your M8 score in Season 4 decides how far you’ll go and what you can win.

Top 64 Players Enter the Playoffs

At the end of the season, the top 64 players by Rating qualify for the Playoffs. These players will face off for the $10,000 prize pool in $C tokens. It’s a head-to-head format. Only the best make it through.

M8 is more than just points. It’s the core of how Anichess rewards players. Introduced in April 2025, it’s now a key part of your progress.

Here’s what you can unlock with your M8:

• Spells that give you more options in matches
• Cosmetic items like special boards and pieces
• Lootboxes that drop game items or $C tokens
• Gambit Mode, a PvP format that uses M8 as the entry fee
  The more M8 you hold, the more $C rewards you might get by the end of Season 4.

It’s easy to join. Go to Anichess.com and sign in. You can use Google, Discord, WalletConnect, or other options. Then play five Quick Matches to unlock Ranked Mode. After that, you’re in. Play every day. Collect M8. Climb the leaderboard. Earn your spot in the top 64. The road to $10,000 starts now.
