Netmarble’s Strategic Shift to Immutable zkEVM

Netmarble, a prominent player in South Korea's gaming industry, is making a significant move with its Marblex blockchain platform. The platform is transitioning from Klaytn to Immutable zkEVM, focusing on integrating AAA games.

Migration of Assets and Games

The migration process encompasses transferring assets from three major web2 games with web3 integration: "Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds", "A3: Still Alive" and "Meta World: My City". This strategic shift aims to streamline operations and create a more robust environment for current and future game developments.

CEO Hong Jin Pyo emphasized the importance of scalability and reaching a broader audience in web3 gaming experiences. Immutable's zkEVM chain was selected for its proven capabilities in providing the necessary infrastructure for delivering enhanced gaming experiences.

Netmarble's decision follows a period of experimental launches in 2022 and 2023 that did not sustain engagement. By refocusing on core offerings and leveraging Immutable zkEVM, Netmarble aims to stabilize and expand its platform. Marblex features not only games but also the MBX token, a wallet, a decentralized exchange, token staking and an NFT marketplace, all set to benefit from this ecosystem upgrade.

Ecosystem Boost Program

To support developers in creating and scaling web3 games on the new platform, Netmarble and Immutable have committed $20 million to the Ecosystem Boost Program. This initiative offers financial and technical assistance, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing a vibrant gaming ecosystem.
