How to Get Started in Pixels and be Part of its Future

Recently, players and speculators are starting to get their eyes on Pixels, which is a new MMO game with an integrated play-to-earn ecosystem. MMO games surely hit our gamer vibes and excite us to meet and interact with the other members of the community. Let’s dive deep on how to start playing Pixels!

What is Pixels?

Just like the other play-to-earn games, Pixels is trying to build an ecosystem wherein players use digital assets as avatars in the game to progress further and gather rewards that they will truly own too. In terms of long-term vision, the team behind Pixels is trying to create a game similar to the popular game called Runescape in the traditional gaming genre.

During this early stage of development, however, the game will begin as an MMO game with a farming mechanic. Farming is the first mechanic released in the game. The set of farming mechanics takes heavy inspiration from the popular traditional games Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Furthermore, players can try out Pixels for free as the game currently features a free-to-play ‘play as a guest’ feature when you load up the game so everyone can try out!

Based on this official tweet from the team, the game also received massive fundraising investments that were as big as $2.4 million funds led by Animoca Brands and PKO investments with OpenSea, Untapped Capital, and Leonis Capital joining the seed round as well.

According to this recent tweet from the official Pixels team, the game released better gameplay and more content. Additionally, players received rewards for playing the game and gathering play-to-airdrop points as they progressed to get rewards. 

Players in the game were able to gather play-to-airdrop points by the following methods:

• Playing and progressing through the game
• Becoming a top player in the leaderboards
• Completing quests
• Owning a land
• Holding land
• Sharing the game!

Also, the tweet announced that over the last two months, Pixels gained a massive popularity in the space gathering the following milestones: 

• Over 500,000 people playing Pixels
• Peaked at 40,000 DAU
• 80,000 active wallets on-chain

How to Start Playing Pixels?

First, proceed to the live game portal through: https://play.pixels.xyz/. Once there, players will be asked to connect with MetaMask or ‘Continue as Guest’. If you choose ‘Connect with MetaMask’, your in-game progress later will be saved and you can use your owned NFT assets in the game. However, if you choose to continue as a guest, your in-game progress will not be saved but you can still try it!

Whether you connected with MetaMask or continued as a guest, if you don’t have an NFT asset to play with, you will proceed to customize your free-to-play character. If you have NFT avatars, however, you can just go ahead and play with them.

To have an NFT avatar that can be played within the Pixels Universe, you must have any of the NFT assets that are integrated within the Pixels Universe. Here’s the link of all the NFT integrations that can be used and played within the game. To buy them, you can simply click a collection within the list and it will take you to its official OpenSea marketplace collection where you can browse for your desired avatar.

Whether you have an NFT avatar or not, the next step is to pick a world to start playing in! You can choose from the available worlds in the game. The amount of server activity is shown through the bars beside the world number.

Once you’re in, you will load into a townsquare-looking area where you can meet and interact with other Pixels players!

To be able to move, players can navigate through the game using WASD keys. Just make sure that you are not typing in the chat while doing so! To access your items, kindly proceed to your inventory and find them there or you can just press your numbers 1 to 9 in your keyboard as they are binded with your items by default.

To start your quests, head over to Mayor Dave in Terra Villa and talk to him. Whenever you are feeling lost or you don’t know what to do next, Mayor Dave will help you get back on track!

We bet that the mayor is in this City Hall but when we talked to receptionist Tanya, she said that Mayor Dave went out somewhere. Hmm, where could he be? Once you find the Mayor Dave, he can give you quests and get you back on track!

Tokens and Rewards in the Game

Resources in the game come in the form of crops and items such as wood, crops, animals, and other items that can be found on a farm. These resources are primarily accessed and gathered through the players’ owned lands. 

Once gathered, the resources can be exchanged through the in-game store for some BERRY tokens. This kind of ecosystem is similar to the traditional game Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon but in Pixels, everything is done on blockchain and players can get rewarded for real.

The game revolves around a dual token system. The two tokens in the game are BERRY and PIXEL. 

• BERRY - The primary in-game token and is vital to the core gameplay of Pixels. Players can spend BERRY in the in-game store to purchase items or get paid in terms of BERRY when they sell items. 
• PIXEL - The premium Pixels in-game token that is used to buy items, upgrades, and cosmetics. Only 100,000 PIXEL tokens are minted each day and this amount gets distributed as rewards to the active players during the day.
