Ubisoft, a trailblazer in the gaming industry, continues to push boundaries with its foray into blockchain technology and NFTs. The evolution from Ghost Recon NFTs to the peculiar Rabbids IP and the immersive Assassin’s Creed “smart collectibles” has paved the way for their latest venture, Champions Tactics. This marks Ubisoft's first original Web3 game, emphasizing NFTs from the ground up.

Introducing Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles

Announced in late June 2023, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles stands out as a player-versus-player tactical RPG. Infused with a gothic dark fantasy aesthetic, the game features figurine-like characters, promising a unique gaming experience. But what sets Champions Tactics apart is its integration of NFTs and blockchain technology.

Champions Tactics introduces Ethereum NFTs named Warlords, serving as PFP NFTs for collectors. These Warlords NFTs not only customize in-game profiles but also offer early access to acquiring up to five playable NFT characters known as Champions. Ubisoft's innovative approach involves releasing both collectible NFT characters and in-game profile avatars as NFTs, all powered by the Oasys blockcFor gamers aspiring to become Champions Tactics NFT collectors, the process involves creating a Ubisoft account, connecting an Ethereum-compatible wallet, and having sufficient Ethereum to cover transaction fees. The minting of NFTs is scheduled before the end of 2023, with Ethereum gas fees varying. However, potential collectors must be over 18, reside in eligible countries, and navigate the list of restricted territories, including countries like China, France, and Russia.

Grimoria, the captivating game world within Champions Tactics, is divided into seven factions, each governed by Warlords. These factions engage in power struggles, each possessing unique traits and aesthetics. From the Thunderstone Corporation to the Undying Dominion, Grimoria's factions contribute to the rich lore of Champions Tactics.

Characters and Gameplay Dynamics

The characters in Champions Tactics resemble tabletop game figurines, each equipped with distinct battle skills. Players must strategically select three Champions for PVP battles, with the added feature of creating personalized Champions.
