The 3D pixel metaverse, The Sandbox, has unveiled its latest creative competition, the Builders' Challenge 2. This event invites creators to flex their creative muscles. Following the success of the first Builders' Challenge, this iteration offers an even more exciting experience.

How to Take Up The Challenge of Sandbox Builders

Creators who are interested can join the fun in three easy steps:

  1. Publish: Your work should offer a novel take on known genres or present something original. For more enjoyment and replayability, make use of the most recent Game Maker 0.10 features. Attracting players requires a compelling First Time User Experience (FTUE).
  2. Involve: Increase the visibility of your game via effective marketing techniques. To increase interaction, form a team with other developers and provide player incentives.   3. Earn: If you're a person, finish the KYC (Know Your Customer) process if you represent a corporate entity, finish the KYB (Know Your Business) process. Completing this step is required for SAND prizes.

Improved Boosters and Mechanics

With The Builders' Challenge 2, additional reward mechanisms are introduced.

  1. Simplified Formula: assigns rewards every two weeks from a 300,000 SAND pool, determined by the experience's engagement score.
  2. Experience Boosters: An engagement score increase of 50% can be obtained by introducing new experiences, multiplayer games, and branded assets. A 150% boost can be obtained by combining these.

Ranking and Distribution of Rewards

Your rank in the challenge is determined by your Engagement Score. It is calculated by multiplying the average session length by the number of visits from players who have completed at least one quest. A minimum of 10 unique players must engage with your game each week for it to be eligible for rewards. The ranks and corresponding rewards are posted weekly on The Sandbox Forum, with rewards issued every two weeks.

How to Qualify

To ensure fair competition, creators must meet the following requirements:

1. Wallet Setup: A wallet is required for managing rewards.

2. Compliance: Adhere to The Sandbox's Terms of Use.

3. Game Maker Version: Use Game Maker 0.10 for your experience.

4. Account Activity: Your Game Maker account must show activity over 7 different days.

5. Open to All: While all creators can join, The Sandbox employees working on the Builders' Challenge are not eligible for rewards.

6. Ban Policy: Top 100 experiences are periodically reviewed for cheating, with bans and warnings issued as necessary.

7. Experience Exclusion: Experiences created by The Sandbox or brand partners are not eligible for rewards.

What is The Sandbox Metaverse?

The Sandbox first launched as a mobile game in 2012. It was made by Pixowl and later acquired by Animoca Brands in 2018. It transformed into a blockchain-based metaverse game. The platform allows players to create, own, and monetize their gaming experiences using NFTs and its utility token, SANDā€‹. The Sandbox Alpha, launched in November 2021, marked a key milestone by including a play-to-earn model where players can earn SAND by completing in-game questsā€‹.
