The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 just wrapped up. And the event was a massive win for fans. Microsoft packed the event, which lasted over an hour, with a lot of content. Fans got new gameplay trailers, surprise game reveals and a nostalgic hardware tribute.

The Heavy Hitters: Gears, Fable, and More

The biggest news of the day? Gears of War: E-Day officially has a release date. Set to launch on October 6, the game takes us back to the brutal start of the Locust invasion. We saw Marcus Fenix don his signature once again. By October we can play as Marcus as he leads his squad through an intense ground war. The trailer showed off the best movement mechanics we have seen in the series.
Fable also stole the spotlight. We finally know we will be stepping into Albion. February 23, 2027! The trailer introduced us to the antagonist, Isabel. You’ll play as Isabel who believes she is the only hero Albion deserves. Fans have already spotted an original villain, Jack of Blades, at the end of the trailer.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is coming on August 27. With Plague Tale Legacy, the franchise returns to 15 years before the events of Requiem.
Another major reveal was with the iconic Persona series. The iconic Persona 4: Revival will drop on February 18, 2027. In addition, the long-awaited official reveal of Persona 6.

Something for Everyone
Beyond the blockbusters, the showcase highlighted a massive variety of titles coming to Game Pass:
- Halo: Campaign Evolved: A new spin-off from the original. Halo launches as early as July 28.
- Crazy Taxi: World Tour: The Sega classic will return in 2027. It comes with a soundtrack by The Offspring.
- Spyro: A Realm Beyond: The dragon is back in 2027. There’s also a new flight mechanic.
- State of Decay 3: The zombie survival epic is back for a rerun with a haunting new trailer.
From the return of beloved mascots like Spyro to fresh concepts like Magicians: The Devil’s Deal, Xbox is clearly doubling down on its “return to Xbox” strategy. With these titles heading to PC and consoles—many on day one via Game Pass—the next year of gaming looks incredibly bright.

Xbox isn’t just looking forward; they are honoring their history. To celebrate 25 years of the brand, Microsoft unveiled the 25th Anniversary Edition Xbox Series X, dubbed the “Xbox Series X25.”
This isn’t your standard console. It features a stunning translucent “OG Green” chassis, an aesthetic nod to the original Xbox console that started it all back in 2001. When you power it on, the center “X” logo even glows with a classic green light.
The bundle includes a matching controller with glossy colored face buttons, echoing the design of the legendary “Duke” controller. It comes with 1TB of storage and is set to launch this November. While pricing wasn’t confirmed, expect a premium price tag for this collector’s item.
The Xbox Strategy Shift
One major takeaway from the showcase was Xbox’s refined exclusivity push. After some confusion earlier in the year, Microsoft leaned heavily into “Return to Xbox.” Games like Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution were confirmed as console exclusives.
