Honkai Star Rail 4.5 takes players to Astropolis, the IPC stronghold planet. Aventurine returns as a central figure tasked with finding a traitor among the Ten Stonehearts — and Honkai Star Rail Sugilite is his primary suspect. Here is everything known about Sugilite and what role he plays in the current arc.
Who Is Honkai Star Rail Sugilite
Sugilite is one of the Ten Stonehearts and an employee of the Strategic Investment Department in the Interastral Peace Corporation. His appearance stands out — a brown-skinned young man with short pale white hair and two violet-shaped pearl earrings, one with a gold tassel. He carries an elitist attitude that comes through immediately in his limited screen time so far.
His personality made Aventurine’s entry into the Ten Stonehearts a personal irritation. Sugilite never wanted Aventurine there and made that position clear. Aventurine described him as “a colleague with atrocious taste” — which tracks with how their dynamic has played out across the story so far.

What Is Sugilite’s Role in the IPC and Among the Stonehearts
Sugilite serves the Strategic Investment Department inside the IPC. During Aventurine’s trial following the events at Penacony, Sugilite was one of the Ten Stonehearts who voted against Aventurine’s reinstatement. That vote placed him in direct opposition to Aventurine well before the 4.5 storyline began.
Version 5.5 added more context — players learned Sugilite had disliked the idea of Aventurine joining the Ten Stonehearts from the very beginning. His opposition is not purely political. It reads as personal, rooted in elitism and a belief that someone with Aventurine’s background does not belong at the same level.
Sugilite is a Masked Fool — a detail that sets him apart from most Ten Stonehearts. The Masked Fools are affiliated with the Path of Elation, which means Sugilite carries dual affiliations. He operates within the IPC structure under Preservation while also belonging to an organization tied to Elation.
That duality is rare and sets up interesting gameplay possibilities. Most characters follow a single path, and Sugilite’s connection to two distinct Aeons gives Hoyoverse flexibility in how they eventually design his kit.

Will Sugilite Become Playable in Honkai Star Rail
The pattern so far is clear. Aventurine, Topaz, and Jade are already playable Ten Stonehearts. Pearl is confirmed playable in version 4.5. Every Stoneheart who has received significant story focus has eventually made it to the playable roster. Sugilite fits that pattern — he is a named, story-relevant Stoneheart with a distinctive design and a unique dual-path background.
His path is likely Elation. His personality does not fit Preservation despite the IPC connection, and his Masked Fool affiliation points directly at Elation as the more thematically appropriate choice. Whether Hoyoverse leans into the duality or keeps him on one path remains to be seen.
Final Thoughts
Honkai Star Rail Sugilite is a Ten Stoneheart, a Masked Fool, and Aventurine’s primary suspect in the 4.5 traitor arc. His elitist personality and long-standing opposition to Aventurine give him a clear role in the current story. If the Ten Stoneheart pattern holds, a playable version on the Elation path is likely.
