Later this month, Street Fighter 6 is receiving another massive content update. This time, the focus is on avatar gameplay. Capcom has officially revealed two brand new modes for the game: Random Avatar Matches and Avatar Arcade.
These features will arrive on May 28, 2026 when Ingrid, the final character in the Year 3 DLC content, will be released. The update introduces the World Tour system and Battle Hub to the game, allowing players to level up their custom avatars.
Players can now earn rewards and participate in fair online competition without the hassle and frustration of finding a match with other players. If you’re a fan of making weird, stylish, or overpowered custom fighters, this could be one of the biggest in months for the game.
Random Avatar Matches Bring Fairer Online Battles

Balance has been a major gripe about Street Fighter 6’s avatar battles. Newer players were often outsmarted by high-level players who used optimized builds to take over the game.
The new Random Avatar Matches mode from Capcom seems to be created to address this problem. The mode will feature “quick and fair online Avatar Battles,” enabling players to battle under more level playing conditions, the announcement said.
The system will randomly mix the conditions and make the matchmaking more user-friendly for casual players. These players can now enjoy an avatar battle without immediately getting put against builds that are maxed out.
Initial online community response has been largely positive. Players on forums and Reddit said the feature is a much-needed improvement for avatar-driven gameplay. Some players applauded Capcom for providing some options other than grinding through World Tour mode.
This mode means players now need to use more of custom move combos, something that has been one of the funniest aspects of Street Fighter 6 since its release.

Avatar Arcade Focuses on Faster Progression

The second big feature is the ability to play the game in a new single-player style mode called Avatar Arcade, which is geared toward efficient avatar growth. Players will fight against computer-controlled characters, level up their custom characters, improve their abilities in the various moves and pick up useful items in this mode.
During runs, players will face off against their formidable “Unexpected New Challengers,” per Capcom. These enemies will be far tougher than normal enemies. But once you defeat them, they can unlock rare items and rewards.
The progression system is also directly linked with the master characters of the game. When players defeat masters, they will fill an Acquisition Gauge and once it reaches full capacity, that master will give the player their Outfit 2 cosmetic reward.
These costumes used to only be available for players to buy directly in-game or to grind for in World Tour mode. Now there’s another way for players to acquire them in-game with Avatar Arcade. Perhaps that makes the mode appealing to gamers who like to customize their games but not play a lengthy RPG.

Ingrid Arrives With The Update!

The May 28 patch additionally brings the last Year 3 Fighter DLC, Ingrid. Capcom has not yet confirmed all the gameplay aspects. Ingrid’s inclusion in the game is enough to spark interest amongst longtime fans.
The initial clips from the trailer suggest that there will be a hidden or special boss fight with Ingrid in Avatar Arcade too. Street Fighter fans are already talking about the mention of a “darker” version of Ingrid in the gameplay footage. This would give another level of difficulty and replayability to the new mode.
With these updates, Capcom continues to maintain decent post-launch support for Street Fighter 6. The updates keep it as one of the most vibrant fighters on the market nearly three years after its release.
