Arc System Works just dropped a massive update for fighting game fans. The final three playable characters for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls are officially locked in. Joining the combat are Blade, Loki, and Deadpool.
They’ll join Ghost Rider to become the new Samurai Outriders team. There’s also a new gameplay trailer which is completely packed with fast-paced action. However, it also hides a massive, unexpected easter egg that classic PlayStation fans will instantly love.

This latest character reveal finally completes the game’s base launch roster. The Samurai Outriders team brings a ton of mechanical variety to the tag-team fighting game. Blade looks incredibly smooth, slicing through opponents with his trademark swords and vampire-hunting gear.
Loki uses chaotic magic and illusions to zone out enemies and control the stage. Then there is Deadpool. Legendary voice actor Nolan North returns to play the Merc with a Mouth, and he absolutely steals the show. Deadpool’s move set is a goldmine of internet culture and fighting game history.
He mimics the classic “Toasty!” shout from Mortal Kombat. He pulls off Johnny Cage’s iconic groin punch. He even strikes the famous Jack-O’ pose from Arc System Works’ own Guilty Gear series. His fourth-wall-breaking banter is top-tier. If you’re a fan of his relationship with Wolverine, you’ll love it.

The biggest surprise of the trailer happens in a true blink-and-you-will-miss-it moment. During Deadpool’s fight segment, he unleashes a wacky special move. He yells out “random bullshit go!” while throwing a barrage of objects at his opponent.
If you freeze the frame around the 1:43 mark, you will spot a floating purple geometric face. That purple head is Polygon Man. For those who do not know, Polygon Man was the original North American marketing mascot for the Sony PlayStation back in 1995.
Sony famously ditched him right before the console launched. He later made a comeback as the main villain in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Since Sony Interactive Entertainment is publishing Marvel Tōkon, this deep-cut easter egg is a brilliant tribute to gaming history.

Open Beta and Launch Dates Locked
Luckily, players will get to try these characters very soon. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls officially hits shelves on August 6, 2026. The game is exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC. If you cannot wait until August, you can jump in early.
Sony announced a global open beta running from July 24 to July 26, 2026. The beta will be live on both PS5 and PC platforms. It is the perfect opportunity to test the online netcode, practice combos, and see if Deadpool lives up to the hype. Mark your calendars and prepare for a wild summer of Marvel fighting action.
