Marvel Rivals Season 9 New Heroes: Jubilee and The Hood
Jubilee lands at the start of Season 9 as a Strategist. Her fireworks-based kit heals allies and deals damage to enemies at the same time — a dual-function design no other Strategist in the roster currently runs. The Hood joins later in the season rather than at launch.
Black Widow gets a full kit overhaul in Season 9, shifting into an aggressive flanking Duelist. A new ultimate, enhanced primary attacks, and multiple new abilities change how she plays entirely. This is not a balance patch — the character has been redesigned from the ground up.

Marvel Rivals Season 9 Team-Up System Overhaul
The team-up system changes completely in Season 9. Every hero gets two team-up ability options and players pick one in the spawn room before each match. NetEase removed the anchor buff system — team-ups now work without requiring the partner hero to be on the team.
If the right partner is present, the team-up automatically upgrades to an enhanced version. NetEase added new team-up abilities to the game alongside returning classics like Ammo Overload and Metallic Chaos.
NetEase is introducing a Regenerative Shield system for high-mobility flanking characters in Season 9. Base health has been reduced and replaced with a green Regenerative Shield visible on the health bar. Staying out of damage for five seconds regenerates the shield at 20% max health per second.
Marvel Rivals Season 9 Hero Buffs and Nerfs
Season 9 buffs 21 heroes including Deadpool, Thor, Storm, Scarlet Witch, Phoenix, and Adam Warlock. On the nerf side, 18 heroes take hits including Angela, Captain America, Cyclops, Iron Man, Moon Knight, and Punisher.
The Thebes convoy map launches July 23, 2026 — set in an ancient Egypt-inspired location. The Season 9 Battle Pass is titled “The Faith-Harvesting Engine” with Egyptian aesthetic skins for Namor, Iron Man, Venom, Moon Knight, and others. The Avengers: Age of Ultron event goes live July 30, 2026 with battles against Ultron in Avengers Tower and Times Square themed activities.
Final Thoughts
Season 9 is the biggest Marvel Rivals update since launch. Jubilee, Black Widow’s rework, the new team-up system, Thebes, and the Avengers event all land within the same three-week window. July 10 at 9 AM UTC is the date.
