The Halo franchise is getting its next reboot. Based on the latest news, Master Chief’s most legendary adventures are being brought up to speed. There are reports of Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes being in active development.
The report comes after the announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Master Chief is remaking the original 2001 classic. The new leaks indicate Microsoft’s increased move towards the ‘old school’ of its most successful games.
When you add the remakes to the fact that Halo is launching Campaign Evolved for PlayStation 5, it is clear that the Halo franchise is expanding on all fronts.

Apart from the Campaign Evolved, Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes in active development, the popular Halo leaker Rebs Gaming reports. He says these projects are still in the early stages of development.
The report speculates that the remakes are being pursued by Microsoft, even if Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t commercially successful. The new projects are tentatively expected to be developed in the same way as Halo 2 was developed in 2014, with the Anniversary treatment.

They probably will get a complete rebuild with a new game engine. They can be supplemented with new content as well. Halo 3 is one of the most popular titles in the series and has never been officially remade or remastered since its release in 2007. The leaks suggest it could be finally happening.
To get an idea of what these remakes would resemble, we’ll have to take a look at Halo: Campaign Evolved. It will be released later this year. The original campaign has been updated and brand new campaign content has been added to add more to the lore.

It doesn’t, however, have multiplayer support, which is an interesting omission. Assuming this is the pattern for Halo 2 and 3, they will be campaign-centric solo or co-op titles. They may also be to highlight the story and mood of the original Halo trilogy using modern graphics.

Expanding the Halo Universe
Given the importance of Halo 2’s multiplayer innovations and Halo 3’s iconic community features, these remakes could also redefine how classic shooters are brought into the modern era. Although remakes appear to be the big thing, that isn’t the only thing happening at Halo.
Rumors say that there’s a third Halo project coming soon. And from early descriptions of the live-service multiplayer game, it could be like Fortnite. Microsoft might be preserving the legacy of the original Halo trilogy while also trying to venture into current gaming trends.
So far, the only confirmed project is Halo: Campaign Evolved, and fans are speculating the game will be released in July. Microsoft hasn’t officially given any comment on the Halo 2 and Halo 3 leaks, but the evidence seems to indicate that there is a huge revival of the franchise at work.
