Rockstar Games just broke the internet with the official Grand Theft Auto VI cover art announcement. There’s no other game on the planet whose cover art release can spark as much excitement as Grand Theft Auto 6, GTA VI. After more than a decade in development, the long wait is finally over.

We now have official GTA VI cover art, release date, and pre-order details for the sun-soaked chaos of Vice City. Maybe the GTA VI memes will finally be laid to rest. Before then, it is time to clear your schedule, because the biggest gaming launch in history is officially a go.

Rockstar shared the official box art directly on X (Twitter). It’s a classic masterpiece and they want you to download it. They’ve made available a high-res version so you can use the GTA VI cover art as you wallpaper.

GTA VI cover art remains true to the legendary multi-panel, stylized comic book aesthetic we know and love. Lucia and Jason, our new dual protagonists, take center stage in the art. The cover art soaks itself in that warm, neon-drenched Vice City vibe.

You can spot palm trees, high-speed luxury boats, helicopters, and a sprawling skyline mixed into the backdrop. The art shows the gritty criminal underbelly of Vice City side-by-side the glamor of the tropics.

Get your wallets ready. Official pre-orders for GTA 6 will open on June 25. You can place a pre-order for your copy on major digital storefronts and physical retailers. Why is this pre-order date such a massive deal?

In the gaming industry, digital platforms like PlayStation and Xbox have strict rules. They rarely let publishers open digital pre-orders unless a game is firmly within a twelve-month launch window.

Opening pre-orders on June 25 all but guarantees that the official release date of November 19 is locked in stone. A third delay is highly unlikely at this stage.

Rockstar did not just stop at box art. They quietly updated their official landing page with a breathtaking dynamic image of Vice City. As you scroll down the page, the world of Vice City has never looked so alive before.

Fans are already going wild analyzing the new look Vice City. They’ve spotted sports cars rushing down wide freeways, planes flying overhead and a massive Ferris wheel spinning in the background.

There are also cargo ships cutting through the ocean water while high-rise apartment lights shimmer in the distance. It proves just how dense and alive this map will feel. And for fans, they can only imagine what they’ll do in the open world.

What You Need to Know Before Launch

As of right now, GTA 6 is targeting a day-one launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. There is still no official word on a PC release date, which follows Rockstar’s usual pattern of launching on consoles first.

With pre-orders launching in a matter of days, the summer marketing blitz is officially here. We can expect a steady stream of new gameplay trailers, feature breakdowns, and deep dives over the next five months. The road to Vice City was incredibly long, but the finish line is right in front of us.
