The Simpsons Map Is Coming Back to Fortnite This Summer
Epic Games posted on Fortnite’s official social channels confirming Springfield is coming back in Summer 2026. The reveal used the new John Wick skin from the Runners Battle Pass looking through a rift at the Springfield map. No specific date was attached, just a Summer 2026 window for now.
The original Simpsons mini-season in 2025 pulled some of the highest Fortnite player counts the game had seen in years. Players have been asking for Springfield to come back ever since it ended and this confirms it is actually happening.

The Catch Is Reload Not Battle Royale
Springfield is not coming back to the main Battle Royale. It is going into Fortnite Reload instead — the 40-player faster format. Some people will be annoyed by that and fair enough. But Springfield was always a compact map. The original mini-season placed it in Battle Royale and it worked, but the size was always more suited to something with fewer players and faster rounds.
Reload drops 40 people instead of the standard count. Matches run faster, respawns keep the action going, and the smaller map size actually fits the format. Springfield in Reload will probably feel more chaotic than its first run in the main game.
Why the Original Simpsons Mini-Season Hit So Hard
The 2025 Fortnite x Simpsons event was a proper crossover. Springfield had its own iconic locations from the show, the loot pool was built specifically around the Simpsons theme, and the cel-shaded art style was visually distinct from anything else in the game at the time. It brought in players who had not touched Fortnite in years and the numbers during that window showed it.
Since it ended the requests to bring it back never really stopped. Epic has been sitting on those requests for about a year and the Reload confirmation is the answer.
What Reload Looks Like With Springfield
Reload is 40 players on a smaller map with respawns. It runs faster than regular Battle Royale and the shorter format keeps sessions moving. Springfield’s tight layout and distinct zones should make rotations feel more deliberate than in a standard game. Whether the original Springfield-themed loot pool comes back with it has not been confirmed.

Players who were there for the 2025 mini-season will notice the differences in how matches flow. Players who missed the original run get their first look at the map in a format that was probably closer to what the design was always built for.
Final Thoughts
Summer 2026, Reload mode, no date yet. The Springfield map is confirmed and the format actually suits it better than most people expected. Keep an eye on Epic’s channels for the actual date when it drops.
